I know of one scenario paintball tank that runs its 2 A-5s off of a 50 pound c02 tank.

Maybe cost? I think he has access to the tank and fills. He'd have to rent a scuba. That might be on his wish list.

Yeah but don't you find that too big to carry around? I use a 12 0z co2 tank on my A5, and find it is just the right weight and balance for running around in the woods.

Of course, this way you could shoot all day and not refill.

neh...I'm a pretty stout fella...6'0", 245. I tricep 150 on the cable column and bench 270. The only thing I find a problem is the length...without the drop, the tank comes back past my elbow...lol. I'm actually thinking of creating myown drop specifically for this tank on the Ion.

bwahahah....yeah it is...I found it on Nation...dude wanted a smaller tank and I wanted a bigger one. Was an even swap for my 71/45 (that I originally paid $90 shipped for)

No, No, man.

Back quite a while ago (when i used to post here regularly) I remember several of the older members talking about co2 tanks formerly being made larger than 20 oz.

They mentioned 24 oz, 30 oz, 32, 37 and i think 42 oz.

I believe lawless may have owned a pretty large tank. I don't know, all I do remember is somebody (one of the older members) owned a big tank. Real big.

But yeah, they make co2 tanks up to about 100 lbs, but they are mainly used for (MIG) welding, and smaller tank fills.

I questioned his statement because it seems strange that his tank is an odd number, 37, when every other tank is an even number.

And I've never even heard of a tank bigger than a 32 oz.

That's what I'm doing now...I'm rehabbing an injured rotator cuff/ac joint...look at my surgery pics...the first 2 are what the surgeon removed with the probe/dremel thing. The 3rd is the damaged joint before the surgery. Before surgery my max was 330, guess I should have said that before. The 150 tricep/cable column is simply because that's all the weight on the machine...can't do more than what on it....lol...just more reps.

Nasty, eh? It's been like this since November and my muscle mass has diminished alot. I posted what I was doing now, guess I should have explained my situation better...sorry.

Yeah...work place injuries.....what fun...the boredom is driving me nuts

"The volume of a CO2 bottle (cu in) is about 2.57 times the bottle size (oz)"

Thus, work backwards: The amount of CO2, in ounces, that a 68ci bottle can hold would be:

(bottle size in ci) / 2.57 = 26.45ounces.

So...a 37 ounce tank would be like 95ci or so.

Sorry, but a tank that size is just stupid. Tell me your gonna use that all in one speedball game or one re-insert in a scenario.

No way... If you play at a field where its easy to refill, thats one thing. But if you play with friends where you cant refill that tank's the king!

Posted By: druidsdecendant
Date Posted: 01 June 2006 at 5:50pm

exactly. Our renegade field has CO2 but not HPA and it's 40 miles to get it (from the field not my house...it's in the opposite direction). My Ion has never seen Co2 and never will but the M98...I don't care what gets used. The Ion's my primary (with the antique Angel...lol a 2k1) and I have several other markers to choose from as back-ups...when playing a tourney, of course I use a smaller tank but I play alot more recball and Scenario than tourney. It's more fun to be out in the field than it is racing back to a fill station...chalk it up to better use of time-management.

I'm not saying large tanks are for everyone and certainly not for certain applications (styles of play) but it boils down to what would you rather do in certain situations (rec)...play the game or run around looking for air? I'd rather play the game...

After I convert my 2" howitzer from CA to CO2, I'll be powering it with a 15lb. CO2 tank.  One of these:

It's what they use for soda fountains and beer kegs.

The tank itself isn't too expensive, usually under $100; filling it is where you break the bank.
