that's right, i said it. this place is becoming stale with the same old arguments and petty quarrels. i think we need some new policy, especially regarding mods and other rules defining accounts. for starters, i understand that still, not everyone has broadband but for the majority of us who do, how about we allow some larger file sizes in sigs? honestly, if you are still on dialup you need to get with the program here. mods, it's become a great annoyance at how many mods we have and that something like what happened to cedric can happen without any warning. that a mod who has been dormant for quite a while suddenly comes out of the woodwork and vandalizes someone's account for no good reason. and then fails to inform people it has happened, allowing others to make assumptions and blame the wrong people. it's a trend here among the mods, it has happened for a long time, i can remember mods not owning up to their punishments back when i was a troublemaker. so for a solution, how about the mods need to be more active to keep their stars? no offense to anyone, and i will not name people, but if you haven't posted in a good while, why are you still a mod? and for the active mods i thank you (hway, reb, rambs, god, ruska, shorty and enos) for giving half a crap to frequent this place and make it better. maybe i just needed to vent, or maybe we really do need a change here. not like we need a totall rewrite of all the rules, but we could sure use some redefining. no, i don't mean like the krl days again but at least we had order back then... -------------

They can't take away the mods stars... Whats done is done, mods shouldnt have to tell everyone what they did and why they did it. you wanna get down to the bottom line here? my beef is that he came out of nowhere and did it. under policy right now mods feel that their actions do not need justification. as witnessed by elvis not coming forth and making it now to at least cedric right away. and also in the pm's hway posted in the mod forum. i've read them too, and if anyone was "being a punk" or "deserved it" it was definitely not cedric. but you go ahead, i expect anyone who has been a member before 2k3 to disagree with me and support their pals. i'm not arguing what happened, i used it as example to change the policy. how about we stay on topic and discuss policy? i'm sure hway would appreciate it if you stayed on topic.  -------------

I'm only "sticking with my pals" because the're really some of the only decent people here...there are a few here that are new though. I do agree with you that some checks and balances would help the forum, but these need to be done correctly, if done wrong they will fail miserably and this forum will go even further down the drain. If I were a mod cedric would have been gone LONG ago. Thus, probably why I'm NOT a mod. I get too mad. -------------

I was just discussing whether or not he acted in policy, and whether or not it needed changes. Things are fine the way they are, if a mod feels something needsw to be done but doesnt want to come out and say it was him thats fine with me. I wasn't aware that making a mod angry was against the policy agreement. The things Cedric did have been tossed back and forth between members many times but since it took place within the old boys club it's not a bannable offense? It sounds like a joke that got out of hand....it's not like Cedric actually defamed hway, just a funny photochop and all hell breaks loose...jeeze...Oh and RT, you probably shouldn't be judging people's decency based on your limited knowledge of the general population around here. Seems to me you stick with your buds too much and need to chill.

I agree that the forums have become rather stale, but I'm not really sure shuffling the mods around would do anything. I'm also curious as to what specific event spurred EE to nuke Cedric. Sure, he's been a punk, he's probably done enough to warrant getting booted, but what specifically pushed him over the edge? |

I agree with HV that this place is getting weak. It doesnt have the family feel it once did. Lets not turn this into a debate about the legitamacy of what happened to Cedric and why, the mods are slugging that one out, us debating it just adds fuel to the fire and angers even more people.

We can start by letting the new people in...for example when a newb posts a topic on an old but still funny video and he gets flamed but you chewp among many others can post basically whatever you want and the rest of the "seniors" will laugh and make the topic ok... These little "clicks" going around are pathetic and are killing the forum I know if I was a new guy and I got flamed everytime I made a topic I wouldent come back to the forum and in the long run the forum dies when all the new guys feel unwelcome -------------

| I managed ok, my first topic ever was "which barrel should I get" after which, I probably made 4 or 5 more of the same as time progressed. I try to be nice to new guys, if they're deserving, if its someone coming in with a new leet shotgun idea, I'll tell them its a bad idea and why. If they post something funny/ informative, I'll comment on that too. I personally like the forum "cliques" as they provide more interesting content than just generic, non-connected forumers. I understand the frustration with them, but as far as random, useless posts being funny, when I was a total unheard of noob, DaveEllis was at his peak of not making sense, and it was some of the funniest stuff I ever saw, I think some would agree. |

| The whole thing with me was that Hway and I were exchanging PMs. I was saying how I did not think he was doing a fair job moderating, and he was trying his best to prove he was being fair. He did a good job explaining it. Now, he posted the PMs in the moderators forum, and Evil Elvis read them. He decided I was acting like a "punk" in the private messages. I did not use any bad words or any offensive pictures. He did not like the way I was speaking to Hway, so he guested me, took my post count, changed my password, changed my email in my account so I would not be notified of a password change, took my avatar away, and took my sig away. He had no right to do any of this. It was between me and Hway, and it should have remained that way. |

When was the last time EE posted anything? I've been around a few years, and I've never even heard of him. If he's going to continue to be a mod, he could at least be involved with the forum community. As far as reviving the forum goes, I haven't been around here in a month or so, so I have no idea where the whole "cliques" thing came from. Was it going on back in the day, or did it just start recently? I never really associate with y'all in any way other than through the mainly useless posts I make every now and then, so I prolly wouldn't have noticed the cliques anyway. If we want to maintain the "family atmosphere", we need to start by, as someone previously stated, treating the newbs a bit better. If we continue to be a--holes to them, people are going to think that we're all a bunch of a--holes and nobody will want to join the forum, which would be bad. Secondly, it should be mandatory that all incoming members read the forum rules, particularly points regarding the Search Button. Topics of conversation are becoming stagnant because the same exact topics are being posted over and over and over again. If newbs know about and are familiar with the search button, none of them will ever get their heads bitten off by a senior member again. Only other thing I can think of is the star system. Is there any way we can change it back to the way it was before? It's a shame to see that someone can achieve a higher rank than someone else because they make 10000 worthless posts as opposed to someone elses 500 useful and informative posts. Having a legit. star system would better create a hierarchy and give some of us regular members someone to look up to and go to for advice rather some retard who gloats about his rank and does nothing to help the other members or community. Am I the only one who realizes the tippmann forum as a whole entity is a clique in its-self? I got torn apart as a noob, You get respect by takeing it, and laughing at yourself. If you get pissed because some people ribbed you, your not gonna end up going any where. That happens almost every where, The 'vets" give the new guy a hard time to see what he can handle. I think alot of people need to get back in touch with what a "Forum" is. People are different, people have differing attitudes, and different tastes. EE could be called as much of a punk, as Cedric could. Depending on your standpoint. Just let it go. Forums need revival because of crap like this... You cant revive an entity that is against itself. I mean, HV has a legit point... But sitting her bickering about it, wont get anything done. |

Super_gman, The “clique” that was referred to is Paintball Chat(PBC). PBC has been the target of some of the mods for a while now. I am an avid PBCer and have had lots of good times there, but I will be the first to say that PBC regs get special treatment because of who they are. Some of this comes from a couple of mods who themselves are PBCers, and the fact that PBC regs have been around the forum for years and their contributions to the forum have been tremendous. However there are lots of things that go on with PBC that SHOULD NOT be happening. We see things that the average forum should not be seeing, and hear things that we should not be hearing about (If you need to know what I am talking about, you already know). Also PBCer’s get a lot of lenience when it comes to strikes and guestings that we should not have. It is a good idea to give a little more lenience to contributing members of the forum, and regs who have been here a long time but there is a little too much lenience is given to PBC today. The best example of this is when a PBCer says “WTF” it goes unchecked, but when a newbie says it they get a strike. I ask the mods to moderate the same way across the board, and not to give special treatment to any group. I also ask that the privledged information that is passed into PBC not be passed anymore, unless it pertains specifically to us and there is a need to know. PBCer should not be considered any better or any worse than any other forumers. I agree with HV on the mods situation, there are plenty of good mods on this forum who are very helpful (mainly the ones HV mentioned) but there are quite a few who drop in once in a Blue Moon and decide they are going to mod for 3 hours and then leave. Stars can be taken from Mods, it was done to UT. Mods who do not moderate anymore, or stop in less than once a month should have their moderator status revoked until they decide to come back on a more permanent basis. There is no reason to have 18 mods, but only have about 8 of them active. As for the Cedric situation, If the main reason why EE guested Cedric was because of the PMs then EE stepped WWAAYY out of line. PMs are Private for a reason, and Hway should have never posted them in the mods forum to begin with. However even though he did EE should have never guested Cedric for information that was passed via PM. That is totally uncalled for, and should not be tolerated. Information posted in PM’s, no matter how offensive is not against the forum rules. It has never been against the rules, and it isn’t for a reason. Hway, you are a good mod and I would hate to see you leave because of this. I know you are mad, and you made a mistake but just because someone calls you on it doesn’t mean you just up and leave. We all make mistakes. Evil Elvis, You on the other hand have been a mod for a long time. You know that PM information is Private, and is not against the forum rules. I think you should take a little vacation and come back when you remember how to moderate. If you guested Cedric for reasons other than what was in the PM’s I would like to see what post caused you to do what you did, I will edit this post and make my apologies. My 2 Cents.. Not that any mod is going to read it.. -------------

...i think its backwards that a bunch of total strangers demand respect like some of the mods. they should be good enough to earn it rather than use their e-authority and mess with people over the internet. they shouldn't have to rely on a star system for forumers to respect. there are plenty of regular guys as mods, but some just let the pretty minimal responsibility get to their heads. im not trying to stir up anything or pick on a sitation that im totally out of, but i can see what others are addressing (ive had my own complications too) and i see alot of good points. -------------

This whole thing is like The Matrix. It keeps happening, then gets reset. Ive seen this same debate, or debates simmilar to it, a few times since I started foruming. Its all comical now. "Well he was being a punk". "He took away my posts" "He was mean in PM's" "He messed with my account" Yawn. Its all been around before. Give it a year or two and another big controversy will arrupt. Another squabble. Another clique getting it's feelings hurt. The little battles between the "old" cliques and the "new" cliques are nothing new. I just enjoy sitting back and watching them now.
People will complain about the forum going downhill. Peope will leave a few times. Oh well. -------------

And all this started because I tried to start a thread to have some fun, like
it was in the past, and everything goes to hell. I have done my best to be fair to you guys. I have never been a hard case, and I treat everyone equally, as much as I possibly can at least. This used to be a great place to be, a family if you will. There are some who just won't hear of it, jack-holes that spend every second tearing others down, spamming, and continually pushing things until, like over the last couple of days, we have a blow up. Then everyone is like, "oh, we need to change things, crack down on (fill in the blank), and then all will be Utopia!" I have always tried to be a forumers' Mod. I like to have fun, help out new members when I can, encourage the FUN silliness, but when it comes to following the TOS for the forum? It's all business. Always has been that way, and until I am stripped of rank, it always WILL be that way. Maybe those with short attention spans don't remember the way I do things. I know I am not around like I used to be. But if you go back and look at some of the older posts, you will see that I Mod the same now as I did in the "good ole days". If this puts a crimp in someones' stride, sorry. I don't answer to you. I answer to Tippmann. i will take the hits, the barbs, the insults, the doubting of my "sanity", do your worst. The pioneers ALWAYS take the arrows. |

I'm Sorry if I didn't understand what you were tryiing to say, what I understood it as was that you would not have done the same thing as EE, but you think Cedric deserved it. The problem is that the Admin is not active on this forum, so the Moderator staff needs to become a team and decide what is best for the Forum, if it means taking some of the non-active mods out of power so be it. You need to get together and make decisions. You can't depend on the Admin to make your decisions for you. You people need to stop acting as if the whole Forum is against you, because we are not. We want what is best for the Forum also. -------------

I put it there not to cause all of this, but to use it as a tool to ask my fellow Mods if I have been out of line. Ask any of them. I try very hard NOT to treat you guys in a bad manner. This all spun out of control and found a life of it's own, as this little soap opera known as the Tippmann Forum is want to do. Cedric sent me what I percieved as a very heartfelt PM, and has impressed the tar out of me as being a stand up guy. It takes a man to admit he was wrong. Cedric has done so, and I am truly sorry for my part in all of this. Blast it all Cedric, we should have saved this for April Fools Day!

As a moderator on another forum I feel qualified to speak here.
Checks and balances is what is needed, a notion to an action must be made and another person must agree that the action will be taken because the person clearly violated the rules and TOS, and was not just being a punk. For instance in the mod corner, Hway could have made a thread "Dealing with Cedric" List and link to what he did and where it breaks the rule and take appropriate action, none of this Segal crap. I'm not taking sides because frankly I dont give a damn. |

I'd have to disagree. The mods need not justify their actions to anyone, becuase they are mods for a reason.
They weren't promoted blindly, they helped this forum in many way. And dont say I dont know what I'm talking about... I was in the same situation with _TT_ this time last year. I disagreed with his call then, but I have wisend up to it, albeit after a long discussion with a few other mods that supported me, not him. I dont condone, but neither do I condem, what happened to cedric. The mod that did it most likely has a legit reason for doing what he did. Ced and I are fine now, but Ced should be happy he wasnt guested last year when I was, becuase we are in agreement that we both deserved it if one of us got it. -------------

OMGZORZ! I just figured out why it took so long for the South to surrender during the Civil War. Jefferson Davis kept saying that "we are seceding", but because Southerners can't spell they kept writing it down as "we are suceeding", and they thought they were winning the war right up until the end! :P |

Perfect example right there back in the day when people came here and asked that same old question of what barrel is the best or how do I do this or that. New people would actually get reasonable replys back. Now all you see is everyone saying been aswered already use the search button. Or some whitty smart mouthed comment, usually ending up in a flame fest. But guys we all have to also face the fact that new people coming in most likely dont know any better. there going to ask those same old questions that we have all seen time and time again but if you dont want to contribute to helping some one out then dont post in that topic. its not that hard to ignore a thread.
