what exactly have we done to get a "bad name?" i keep hearing this, quite a lot as of late, and i fail to understand what bad name has been given to paintballchat. so some people in the channel act immature, not my fault, not everyone deals well with authority(oh my, where might we have seen this lately?) and surely your judgement should not be skewed by one bad apple. hades speaks of pbc being such an unfriendly place all the time but he hasn't visited us in quite some time. how would he know if things changed eh? so please, come forth and lay it out in the open, what has given the channel a bad name? -------------

you act as if you're one of the more caring and dignified chat members we've sorta had a history of pranking, screwing with newcomers to chat, banning less popular members for almost no reason, and "you're not the boss of me" attitudes other than that, harmless. |

I will agree with koolit. But what is so wrong with a little fun? I mean, no we should not have the high and mighty additude I have seen sometimes but other than that its all in good fun. My currently my dislike for PBC is the "come join us in Chat thread." For those that do try and log in they are forced out either because some Op can ban them or they are /quit out for the ammusement of the channel. This is evidenced by chat loggs posted on this forum.
Also it seems that some of the frequenters, post only on this forum to harass other members, make inflamatory post, and egg each others behavior on. Also some claim they dont care, but then if something happens to their account, a thread is closed, all hell breaks lose. I also dislike that schemes are plotted, egged on in chat, and them carried out on here. I then have to waste my time modding the behavior. When the modding takes place, half the channel will log into make a scene to defend the person that had mod activity taken against them and proclaim innocence. I am not talking about this weeks action. What goes on in Chat is none of my business but when the activities transfers over to this forum, it becomes everyone's business. Behave however you want in chat but, how about acting in a respectable manner on this forum. Is that really that hard to ask? Again for the most part I respect and find most of the members of chat ammusing. I have taken place in many fun times with PBC, but unforunately there have been some sour times. And again the members of chat that normally act in a respectable manner, get the short end of the stick. Haha, Panda man there are times when the channel does behave in that manner. ***This post only applies to members in chat that fit this bill. AKA the bad apples.*** |

I venture into chat whenever I have the time, same with the forum. True. There are quite a few pranks pulled on newbs in the channel. Most of them were pulled on me when I first joined up as well. Hell, if it weren't for the pranks I still wouldn't know that /quit would log me out of the channel. So I looked at it as a learning experience. The only real problem I notice with PBC is that pretty much everyone in the channel is an op (including myself on occasion) and not everyone in the channel deserves it. Naturally, there will be problems with the undeserving, irresponsible members. If that stops then alot of the anti-newbness would stop too. But then we would lose some of the hilarity... anyway, its not for me to decide PBC's fate.
For me, PBC and the forum are places i go to to kill some time, talk with friends, and read about new and interesting "facts." I come here for my own enjoyment and I avoid situations that have the slightest chance of killing that. If the forum or PBC stops being fun then I will quit coming. It's happened before, it'll proabablly happen again. To the newbs reading this: There are people in this world who will not like you immediately... or ever for that matter. Its the same with me and every other member of this place. Why worry what they think? No need to impress them. Because you really know how things are in chat. Everyone goes though the hazing thing, i did too, blah blah blah, he kicked me this, i logged off that and cried to my mom, whatever its all the same. You cant go everywhere and epect to immidiately be accepted, and yes, we are known for putting the stupider forumers down, because they deserve it. Zesty, for example, knows nothing of High_Voltage other than what he sees on the internet, and still chooses to say the things he says about Hv's life and personality, which is stupid, and we let him know that. Druid was using bad parenting techniques, and we let him know that. Anyone that does something stupid, we let them know, in our special little way. -------------

Xeno, actually most of the ops in the channel aren't really ops. They just got ops when PBC went down and now they just give them to the whole channel. Kind of stupid but whatever. There used to be like me and a couple other ops and hops but not anymore.

I drop into PBC sometimes- there is a lot of funny stuff in there, lots of great links, and DJ Enos always rocks. I wouldn't consider myself aprt of the clique though- I'm clearly not, being too outspoken and all. Still, some good times can be had by those who are thick skinned. Imagine it as the best and the worst of this forum distilled to its essence, minus the mods and quintuple the perversity and obscene language. hahaha he's dellusional. it started when he was being a total asswipe back in the krl days. eventually he turned to friendly conversation through pm's and i supported him on the forum. he gave me his email address. i intended to keep in touch but school became more taxing and i stopped visiting the forum so frequently. he sent me a pm or two asking why i hadn't sent an email. i never asked for his address, but at some point he twisted the story in his head. again, i wish i had saved those pm's because there would be the solid proof. but let's see, i manage to post on here and not flock to zesty every chance i get to post. i do believe he is the one who came into MY thread starting arguments and throwing insults and lies. let's learn to look at ourself their zesty before you become so swift to point the finger at others. so i never emailed you like i said i would after you sent me the address, is that what this is all about? you got kinda lonely because someone on the internet stopped talking to you? that's really sad if you ask me. again, note who is still trying to stir conflict here, and how badly he insists on making me the bad guy. get a life, douche. -------------

The only problem I have had with you since, is you seem to have changed once you got a little crew of internet "friends" and starting growing more confidence......I started noticing you coming off with this attitude, and ripping new members a lot, often unecessarily. You started acting like a butthole, simply put. I don't seek out your posts, if anything I try and avoid them, and most the time try to bite my tongue even when I disagree with you, because I know I come across as rude sometimes and I try and avoid confrontation. But I came back to the forum and saw you basically whining, and from all I can tell it is just the culmination of what you yourself have set up. If you want to act like a jerk, that's fine, But don't expect to get anything different in return! And you sure as heck shouldn't make a thread to whine when all that's happening is you getting what you got coming. No hard feelings, trust me. I have much more maturity than that. Its not hard to see whose controlling the strings to the mod marinette. I've been in there before when you do it. You'll start ribbing someone, post a link to the thread to get others involved, and then get the mods help so you dont get in trouble for it. Just by the sheer number of rules broken in here.. there should have been more then 1 guestings.
Like YWSM says, you get one mod on your side, and the rest are scared to do their job. When a mod (or mods, since I know 2 of them personally) try and do their job correctly, you (not directed toward anyone) get mad and flame the mod, and try and get your 'buddy' mod involved to 'put' the other mod 'in their place'. It's quite obviouse to everyone. -------------

compared to about 80% of production cars, a single recall (some minimal check on rear susp) is actually very good (the truth is, no cars are perfect). go ahead, type in any car you want into google with word "recall" after it and maybe you'll be exposed to how the automotive industry is. btw, the "mass" recall only affect about 800 se-r's, not including mine although ibrought it just in case.

Why don't I like chat?
I've been in there 3-4 times, and see no reason to justify going back. You guys are unwelcoming when you ask people to come in. "Hey come to chat" and you post the server and everything and you even help people getting in. IT makes no sense because then you are all jerks to anyone that comes in. If you are trying to gain membership you should probably be a bit nicer so people want to stick around. I don't go to chat because I don't think anyone really likes me or has wanted to get to know me. So even if I try and carry on a genuine conversation about interests, it is met with vulgarity and sarcasim. |

It is called "initiation". We all went through it when we first came to chat. The idea is to weed people who will not make good members out. I actually went through it twice, once back when we had java chat on paintballchat.net and again when I started posting again. As long as you don't get offended and cry in front of your keyboard because we told you to to type /quit Tom and then you quit yourself you would be fine. People that get mad over stupid stuff like that don't need to be in chat.. -------------

Well fine Ill chime in. Im not on anybodies "side", no matter what some people like to imagine. I dont do special favors for people in chat, and everyone with half a brain knows that. Its a big forum, and I have a life outside of it. I try to read through the forums every day to answer tech questions, help people out, and look for anything that needs modded. But if I dont read a 20 page thread that isnt even on topic halfway through where someone might have said something bad, Im not ignoring it for sake of friends. Its just that I dont see it. Im sorry, but all this special treatment nonsense is just that. Nonsense. If you want me or other mods to be honest with you, be honest with yourself first. This kind of conspiracy theorizing just smacks of jealousy that some people can talk to a mod whenever they want (Even though anyone can, its called PM) And this "initiation" crap. Ive always hated it. People thinking its cool to be jerks is most of the reason alot of the old time chat users dont bother much anymore. RFU and me and Sebastian Black started Paintball Chat for EVERYONE. Not just Tippmann members. But this rampant idiocy and immaturity killed it. I dont even "own" chat anymore, and I dont care who does. RFU and I paid for the domains, we paid for the server, we built the website and the IRC network and NetRadio ourselves. I didnt see any of the PBC members helping with that. I for one arent going to waste money out of my own pocket anymore for some kids to get their rocks off being eliteist. -------------

I guess that is why Reb, Hway, And rambino have all given me strikes for various offences.
Why invite them in? there is always the chance that someone cool hasn't made it in yet. Why puat them through what is aparently extremely harsh? We dont want someone who is easily offended in there, because we make rather mean jokes at times, and we dont need people crying about it. Trust me, nearly everyone goes through it. I did, and cedric seemed like a donkey. As did HV....and Whale at times. But I stuck around and talked. Same with Snake, stealth, Sureshot, and various others in there now. -------------
