Subject: Best Long Range Barrel

I'm back from Oklahoma D-Day!! It was ok.. The Germans won with some serious advantages, but I still had fun.

I've decided I'm going to sell my model 98, 98 custom, my pt extreme pistol, my flatline, and my old mask. It is time to upgrade....

I'm thinking about the new '06 custom pro e. the WAS board is most appealing to me. I'm not use to being able to spray my enemies, but lately I've had times when having this ability with be really helpful... Or a good paint grenade .

I've been looking at what kind of barrel I plan on buying.

My flatline has been somewhat faithful to me, but it started bailing on me. I'm either buying a new barrel including a new flatline as an awesome backup, a barrel kit, or two sets of barrels.

I'm always looking for anything that can equal the distance of a flatine, and stay accurate, but I can't decide right now. Here's what I'm looking at:

1.Apex M-16 or Apex Ak-47- Yea..... I'm starting to give in to the apex a little... One of my partners at D-Day that was a sniper recommended it.

2. The Hammerhead Series- I've heard some nice things about these. I wonder how far and accurate they are.

3. J and J edge kit- My friend says he does really well with this and N2.

4. Stiffi- Another friend recommended this.

5. Freak Kit- Same as above...

I'm open to any barrels that you can think of. What do you think?

Well, the only barrels to give you added range are the Flatline and Apex.

I'd reccomend a kit over anything. You have so many more options. Accuracy is more important than distance in my book. Hammerheads are awesome and if I had a gun that could use them, I'd definately own one. Freaks are great too, the inserts wok wonders. You cant go wrong with them.

If you want a nice 1 piece barrel, I'd reccomend a LAPCO Bigshot or a CP classic.

In the end, it's personal preference as to what you want.

Hm...  For my 98 custom I have a J & J 16" ceramic and it works great, but I have a flatline for my A-5 and it owns it, the backspin it puts on the ball gives it that much more distance.

Bah... Don't get me started on apex :/  I'm not a big fan of it...  Shooting around bunkers, I don't see the fun in it really.  Also, they might have other barrels other then that one but its the most advertised so give me a break :/.

If you're looking for range, (which I assume you are, considering the title of the thread), the Flatline or Apex should serve you nicely.

look into a justice series by white wolf airsmithing... it's like a barrel kit, only with a 1 peice barrel...

all the barrels will give you a range of 125-150 foot range, apex and flatline will give you those "long" ranges. Other wise, basically every barrel is the same...

I personally think Apex's are cheating but whatever, is your barrel.

Send your Flatline into Tippmann and they can refurbish it for ya. Other than the Apex I think it's the only other barrel that gives you more range according to the manuf.

The apex's modes are almost entirely useless in almost any
situation, but it does backspin much better and more accurately
than the flatline. To me, that's good enough. I tried it outdoors
the other day and it floated off into the distance.

If you don't want to be cheap, just don't use the other modes... I
have a feeling I never will find a use for them.

you only get range from a barrel that puts a back spin on the
ball and a normal barrel only gives like 5 feet extra because its
tighter around the ball causeing the air system to work better,
no billion dollaer barrel will help range only consistancy. go
with the apex of flatline for range

OPSGear seems to have a good barrel, looking at the video. I am searching through the web, myself, for a good one. So far, i've heard that anything above 14 inches uses more air, but, in the sense of the weapon, you wouldn't be firing out like crazy. Unless you get flanked or something... but, I dunno. Just thought this would help.

Nope, over 14 inches doesn't use more air, but the ball is just in the barrel longer which causes more friction (more ball bouncing in the barrel), less acrate and because of the friction the ball doesn't go as far.  Even though some people think hey if I get a 21 inch barrel it will shoot so far and accurate.  But some think that because they are probably newbies.  Anyway I have the flatline and I love it.  I don't like the Apex cause of the cheating functions that are possible with it but it shoots far and pretty strait.  So I'd say flatline or apex for distance.

More friction = more air needed.
Hello, Mcfly!

The end of that makes no scence to me, can you explain your "theory" a lil more for the less edjumecated.

hey if you are looking for rang and accuracy go with the apex, its amazing how the ball kinda bends in the begining and the just floats to the target. shouting it is amazing just set it to the middle setting and let it rip because the full hop up makes it inacurate but it shoots no joke around 50-60 meters with a 40cm grouping(with bad paint), i measured at the local gun range and others say the same because they tried it

Well, Tippmann's release the same amount of air on every shot (not sure about the pro-E since I know nothing about it. The VAS on a Tippmann blocks the flow of air which is ALREADY released. An RVA will allow you to hit the valve lighter, which opens it for a shorter period of time, which uses less air, and also less velocity.

Any questions?

They consider it cheating because of how it can bend around trees, bunkers, etc.

I think the apex is cool because of the range. But using it to bend around things isn't really that attractive to me.

Because they are whining about a technological advantage that anybody can afford.

They think you should only have a technological advantage if you can afford to buy a $1500 setup.
