What do you guys think??

Looking for opinions...what is shown here is pretty much the final production version (very different than the last ones seen).

Myself and a teammate played with them all day out at Oklahoma D-day, if you were there, hopefully you had a chance to hold one...we handed them out frequently to anyone that wanted to "feel" it.

manufacturing will be done in a glass-filled nylon...basically balistics plastic (same thing that the A-5 grip is made from).

It is an A-5 mod, you can go to the IC homepage

For more info...yes, it is an A-5 inside, and the only modification done to the A-5 was to cut off the little nub on the bottom front by the foregrip. And even that is not absolutely necessary. http://www.identitycrisispaintball.com/b5main.html - http://www.identitycrisispaintball.com/b5main.html

Looks very cool but seems extremely pricey at $320 for what you get and
there's no mention of when they will ship except to say "soon." According to
the promo materials you get a APE Rampage board, some nuts and bolts, a
rear butt plate the the two plastic halves.

Looks good, just pretty expensive IMHO

Part of the expense is that I am not a large company...and right now cannot buy in the sort of bulk that big companies can.

Actually...you get the APE board, solenoid, Sear pin, safety, all of which is basically equal to or better than an E-grip. that is $100 right there...you get a buttstock (even though it is actually part of the marker) which is $60, you get a shroud allowing you to mount rails and accessories which is another $60-100, so if you add all of that up...you are getting close to $300, and with this you get the tactical advantages that a bullpup gives...faster reaction time, you can get closer to baracades, quicker target aquisition, quicker shouldering, etc etc.

I didn't realize you are marketing these mods. Nor did I realize the other
parts. And yes, you're right since it's "cottage industry" modification it will
cost more due to the manufacturing costs.

Oklahoma D-Day is the best thing for paintball since nelspot.  It causes all these senior tinkerer's to get their game on, and pump out products that make me crap my pants.

EDIT-  Considering both the body of the A-5 and the hopper are behind your right handgrip, does it balance well?  It doesn't look like it would.

This project has taken a few years to put together, but alot of the modeling work has taken place in the last 6 months. We have gone through 3 prototypes to get to the final design that we are at now.

Originally posted by kinnielson kinnielson wrote:

The trigger works like any other electronic trigger. we will be using the APE rampage board..and they are customizing it for us, so it will be entirely waterproof.

Originally posted by ninety8freak ninety8freak wrote:

Well, you can run remote, or on the bottom of the front grip there is an option to mount a drop froward and you can mount the tank there.

Thank you for the questions and keep them coming!

http://www.identitycrisispaintball.com/cart/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=2 - Pre-orders are up!

Bullpups are great (and I can quote the TV show future weapons almost directly for this) because most of the weight resides behind your hand (this also answers the balance question of someone else), since the weight is behind the hand and on your arm, it gives the illusion of a much lighter weapon, and since the muscles are already tight on your arm and your arm is in a "closed" position, you both have a smaller over-all profile, as well as you are already tense for a quick target aquisition. Also because the wieght of the gun is behind your hands, when you are choosing targets, you are really only moving the barrel, which means you can jump back and forth between multiple targets at a much faster rate.
The shortened over-all length in front of the hand (about as long as a pistol), means you can get closer to your bunkers or trees out on the field, it also means CQB is much easier accomplished as you dont have to swing a long gun out to meet your target.

There...pretty much from the bullpup manual...except NOW...For paintball!!! :)

BTW, if there are any dealers out there...like Tippmann themselves (after-all, this is an upgrade for their A-5), PM me...I will get you dealer pricing...

The funny thing about the weight, it is about the same weight as an opsgear front RIS foregrip...it adds a little over a pound to your over-all marker, but because of the way it balances on your arm and hand, it feels lighter...

I actually had one guy at D-day tell me it was lighter than a stock A-5...
...I then pointed out to him that it WAS a stock A-5 with our B-5 shroud over it...boy was he embarrassed...but it makes for a funny story and shows exactly how this feels in the hand.

If anyone is going to the Buffalo special forces D-day event on June 24, we will be out there with a couple of the prototypes (#3 and #4 and maybe prototype #5 with everything that I am implementing from talking to people on the forums)...just look for the identity crisis banner.

Oh, and for the guy who asked how long to develope and get into production...well, I am still developing (although I have 2 working prototypes that we play with...I am just tweaking now), AND, we haven't gone into full production yet...and probably won't until we get 100 pre-orders...we need to show our manufacturers that we are serious...

Since I am still working on the next prototype...and I posted this here for feedback and ideas...does anyone have any more ideas or criticisms that they would like to see impemented...after-all, You guys practically built this thing! I just took your ideas and made them real     http://www.tippmann.com/forum/wwf77a/forum_posts.asp?TID=132711&KW=bullpup - Check out my original thread when I first built the proof of concept

I take all of your comments seriously, as you can see going from that, to this

I also want to assure everyone that this pre-order is not going to run a very long time. I have pre-ordered things before and then sat for 6 months waiting for my product to arrive only to eventually have to beg the company for my money back since it seemed like nothing was ever going to happen.
Identity Crisis has a very good reputation in the paintball world as players and I don't want to do anything to jeapordize that. My business partner and I have setup some strict boundries on our cutoff (approximately 2 months). If we do not recieve enough pre-orders by that cutoff to show our manufacturers and investors that we are serious, we are going to return everyone their money and cancel the whole project (possibly selling the patent to someone else who has more capital). The last thing we want is players angry at us for keeping a pre-order going far too long. The money collected on this pre-order is sitting in a bank and will not be touched until we place our first order with the manufacturer...if the order never happens, you will get your money back, and we will take the hit for the charges that are already incurred to take payments.
I want to assume all of the risk on myself and none of it on you guys, to keep my reputation. That goes for all dealers also.

On the plus side, we have already recieved a few pre-orders...so thanks guys who pre-ordered already!

Btw, since I was asked by a lot of people...later on today you should find a "group buy" option for orders of 5 or more (from players not dealers, dealers should still contact me), where each will recieve 10 dollars off when bought as a group.

ok time for my nice list of questions.

1. is that a 45 frame that you are using for the grip? the current thing that bugs me with a-5's is the fact that they arnt a standard grip so you cant get stickies or anything really for them.

2. it looks like it, but is there enough room for a low pressure kit on there? just want to be sure

3. so over all its only about a pound including the ape board and all that? currently my marker weighs a ton with the stock on it which im sure weighs a couple pounds, then of course you have the grip which isnt horrible but it adds up fast.

4. does it come in camo lol?

5. i noticed theres not a lot of clearance with the flatline in there, would you have to pull the 2 halves apart in order to get the flatline barrel off to clean it? i can see that it wouldnt be a problem for a normal barrel though.

welp i think thats all for now if i think of any more questions ill be sure to post them. thx for the info

1:, Yes, it is a 45 grip frame on there...will fit all standard 45 grip plates and grips.

2:, actually, the pics of slasherdan holding it...there IS a low pressure kit in that marker...so yes, it fits...this kit should fit all the accessories and add-ons for the A-5...including the Q-loader.

3: to install the B-5 parts, you remove your grip (which reduces your wieght, and then add-on the B-5...it replaces the grip frame...since you don't need a stock, it replaces that as well, it also gives you a mounting point for rails on the front...so you don't need a fore-grip...in all, it should be a much lighter marker than when you have all of those things on seperately.

4: Initially it will come in black, but we may offer paint-jobs for an additional fee. We may even do them in camo using the dura-bond paints.

5: Yes, unfortunately you would have to take the two halves in 1/2 to remove a flatline barrell...however, I never remove my flatline to clean it, I just run a rubber squeegie through the cylcone into the barrel...I tried a lot of ideas to get it so that you could remove the flatline while it was together...none really worked.

ya know im actualy curious as to if an apex barrel would look good with that mod or not, it would be interesting to see because of the large plastic piece on the end of the barrel, also would you still be able to adjust the apex i would think it would be long enough to stick out the end of the shroud.

Actually, a stock Apex does not fit , it is too short and I couldn't adjust the shroud to work with it...it ended up looking really dumb. However, the longer apex's (the 12" and the 14") DO work...or you can do what I did and buy a J&J ceramic barrell and mount your APEX onto that! it looks great (I'll post a pic this weekend of it) and it works great!

Actually, the plan for the company is to make bullpup mods for all types of markers, We patented the bullpup design for paintball, so we are starting with the A-5, the next one will be the ION, after that we are still determining, but probably a 98, spyder, cocker, Impulse...and eventually even angels!

Some will be more difficult than others, some will look more mil-sim than others (all depending on what is possible with the mold).

OR, it could all come tumbling down around my head and I could close the company in 2 months because we didn't get enough pre-orders...and end up selling the patent to someone who has enough capital to make it work.

I do need advertisement....any ideas??

Also, What color should I make them...I can have one standard color for free...after that it costs me for each different color...so what color should I start with...originally i thought basic black, but a lot of people like the dark gunmetal grey also!

what color would you guys like to see?

I agree  Make your basic color scheme  Some dark urban color.. based on the CQB usage etc.

Posted By: Jefangel
Date Posted: 18 June 2006 at 10:32pm
I am kind of sick of the basic black...that was why I was thinking of maybe a gun-metal grey for the starting color...camo schemes can be done with paint later..like a nice durabond paintjob.

BTW, since someone asked...here is a pic of the lovely Jessica, holding the B-5 with the Tank on it...it also shows a B-5 without LPK and with the standard A-5 foregrip mounted to the front.

Oh, and for the person who didn't know you could put an APEX on a J&J ceramic...that is also shown in the picture.

THanks to OPSzone for hosting the Pic.

No :( we wont be attending....I'd like too, but we have another game to attend that weekend. I am trying to get to as many games as I can to promote the B-5, but i cannot make them all yet, and unfortunately, I don't have enough prototypes to send along either!

YOU NEED ADVERTISMENT!!!

I do need advertisement....any ideas??

Also, What color should I make them...I can have one standard color for free...after that it costs me for each different color...so what color should I start with...originally i thought basic black, but a lot of people like the dark gunmetal grey also!

what color would you guys like to see?
advertisement?  you could raffle 1 off as a kit and include the A-5...  i'm sure you could find a way to put an add in an apg or something...

color?  i would like to see it in a silverish color except darker... like a raw metal color...  imo, that would be pretty sweet...

I dont want this to sound like a negative reply to your statement, but, there are a whole bunch of "upgrades & mods" out there for sale for the A-5. If you get one of the milsim mods for your marker you will end of spending much more the cost of what the B-5 upgrade mod goes for even at the full retail price. Most of the other kits that are avialable are purely a comestic change. With the B-5, you get a new look and a bullpup paintball marker that includes the APE board.

Okay, as news... http://www.identitycrisispaintball.com/b5main.html - pre-orders are moving right along...thanks to all that have already pre-ordered, and those that have not...prices are going to go up after the pre-order period so take advantage of it now!
I wanted to tell everyone that I have taken all of the ideas, suggestions, fixes, that we got from both d-day and the various forums that I have posted on, and we have submitted those fixes and changes into a new prototype that we should be recieving next week...I will be updating the website and providing more details on how things work next week as we get the new prototype and begin testing it in playing conditions. I really hope people will be pleased with the final product...we are taking all of your suggestions very seriously!

I love it, I've been looking all over for a good looking mod for my A5... But none of them had the realism or effect I wanted and just made it heavier and heavier. I'm all the way in New Zealand, but damn I'm gonna try to get my hands on one of these.

Again, I think this is a damn fine piece of work.

I would use this thing for speedball, imagine how close you could get to a bunker with it! And its electro, so you could do some mods and stil get some amazing ROF!

PS: I really almost hate playing woods and senario, but this is hands down the coolest/most practical/most usefull/best/all around drop dead sexiest Milsim gun I have ever seen in my paintball lifetime.

Tell opsgear that!

This mod looks pretty sweet, but im still a little confused about what you get.  What exactly do you need for this mod to work.  Obviously an A-5, but do you also need the basic egrip?  What parts of the stock egrip are used? Can you still install a QEV in it?

yes i was also wondering if i had to buy an egrip for my a-5

Since it comes with the APE Rampage board I would think you wouldnt need a stock e-grip coz the APE board comes With a solenoid. Just chuck your trigger and guard at the front, and I think the board is in the grip with the solenoid at the back under the sear.

Also the QEV sits on the cyclone where the banjo fitting usually is, so since theres already space there the QEV and this kit should be compatible.

Go to http://www.identitycrisispaintball.com - www.identitycrisispaintball.com

You should see the package there.  I think they list the parts as well.  The board is in the read with the solinoid.

Actually, I am trying to get a couple new pictures up...in one of them, I took a standard A-5 right out of the box, took our B-5 kit, and converted the A-5 to a B-5 with no additional parts needed...

So no, you don't need to have anything other than a stock A-5 to get it to work.

However, there are lots of add-ons, mods you can add such as a drop forward to the front (to bring the tank forward), rails on the sides, top and bottom, 45 grips to make it a little more comfortable to hold, a remote connection so you can run remote, the new Magnetic trigger that I made to give it an incredibly light trigger pull (for you speedballers), a rubber front cover to cover up the open area around a straight barrel, a rubber end-cap cover to make the end-cap a little more comfortable if you go naked into the woods with it, etc etc etc...lots of options you can add...many of which we hope to get onto the website very soon.

A couple links to some videos I made last night:

http://www.yourfilehost.com/media.php?cat=video&file=3365features2.wmv - B-5 features

http://www.yourfilehost.com/media.php?cat=video&file=More_B_5_features.wmv - More B-5 features

Okay, I know this file-hosting site sucks, but I couldn't find anywhere else to put them in short notice.

You can just see the remote coil going on the other side of his arm under the lpk/regs. He mentions his swivel mount on the bottom for swapping left or right that runs remote.

Jef keep up the good work, its all excellent Hows sales going? I'm gonna order one when I get back from Aussie, Hopefully I wont have blown all my money there. ...

When do pre-orders close? You said 2 months, and your online-store says it was added on the 4th of June... so thats around the 4th of August I think.

I think we are going to run pre-orders until we ship our first units out to the people who have pre-ordered....which right now looks to be about 2 months from now...I will keep people updated though, we went and applied for our loan to go into full production last week...so we need to get the loan, and then get our manufacturers started on making the various parts.
