So in the morning I will be getting my wisdom teeth removed. Only one is impacted so the doctor said that was good, but I still opted for general anesthesia over novacaine. Any suggestions to make the pain any better?

Eh, wisdom teeth were no biggy for me. I was eating at taco bell the same day. Then I went to see the movie the girl next door (while high on vicodin). It was good times.

Yeah, I've seen some people play golf the day after and others stay in bed for a day or two.

I had mine out and it was nothing.  I didn't have any problems with bleeding or pain after the procedure. I was also awake when I got mine out. Instead of putting me out they put me on nitrous, they also gave me a valium before the procedure and oxy conton after the procedure. It wasn't bad, don't worry about it.

It all depends on if your teeth are bone impacted or not. If they are, have fun not doing anything for a few days, if not, GO TO TACO BELL. Also enjoy the opiates.

Ahh well all I know is one is impacted, I don't know if it's bone impacted or what not.. None of the teeth have actually surfaced through the gum yet so I don't know..

I've had three of mine out so far. They're taking them out one at a time, on novacaine, and I make them show me the teeth. They're huge. I don't know if or when I'll get the last one out. Healing hasn't been too bad at all. It hasn't kept me out of work or anything.

Dont eat anything or brush your teeth the morning of the operation. If you do you will throw up when you come out of your sleep. That wouldnt be fun with mouth surgery and would hurt like hell!

Because back in the days before dental care, most people's teeth had started to rot out before their wisdom teeth came in, so there was room for them. They were replacements.

Ancient man had a larger jaw that could fit all the teeth as well. It's a vestigial organ, like your appendix. You don't really need it.

I had mine out last summer. My face swelled up like a beachball and I was in constant pain. It sucked hard.

I was up doing fine right after I got them removed. The next day everything swelled and hurt for about 2 days. I think the worst part is If you cant rinse them out properly   you get a liquid that sends shivers down your spine when it hits your tongue.

The Vicodin is pretty good though. Didnt really help with the pain.. just made the time go by really fast.

Kinda but not dental, happened when I had my 2nd knee surgery. The biotch nurse made me brush my teeth the morn of my op. even tho I was told not to by the doc and I threw up as soon as I woke up from the anethesia. (sp) and yes I ratted on her, she got in deep doo doo for it too. HA!

Got mine out over Spring Break. I got home, did some funny stuff, sister and her friend laughed, I fell asleep. Woke up later, ate some pasta, then went to sleep. Next day I was fine. I took the painkillers for a day or so, but I didn't need them and they didn't do anything else.

i have to get mine taken out soon. it sucks. they said if they we like a millimeter further back they could have left them in....but thats not the case. they also said that one if them is really close to a nerve and they said they are good and they dont normally hit the nerve....but if they did that side of my mouth would be parylized for a couple hours or days....maybe weeks or months. and then he said very calmly " if it lasts longer then 12 months....its probably permanant"....oh boy!

So basically, I'm alive but in some pain. Pain pills = r0x, though. I don't remember anything after him telling me what was in the IV until when my mom kept stopping me from trying to remove the gause. I bled a lot so I've been really lght headed. I actually passed out on the way back from the bathroom. Overall, it sucked. I can't feel anything in my bottom jaw.

It was really funny...

The first 5 hours after sucked for me, I was fine after that.

My mom tells me, When I came out of aneastacia (s/p?) that I went crazy on the nurses and docters screaming "WHERE ARE MY LIPS!?!?! GIVE ME BACK MY LIPS! THEY TOOK MY LIPS!!!!!"

I dont even recall the ride home....

I still wish she would have video taped that.

The worst is when everyone is laughing at you and it causes you to freak out at them causing them to laugh at you even more.
