i have a smart parts all american barell 18 inches  i was wondering if that is too long?

most would say yes. Typically you want 8" of non ported barrel. So say I have a barrel that at the end has 2” of porting I would want at least a 10” barrel then. Then there’s you who’s double that so basically your getting less bang for your buck.

Get a 14" barrel and be done.  12" has been proven to be the best ratio of velocity to accuracy but i make it 14" to accomedate the 2" 's of porting.

Anything over 14" is overkill. It wont add distance or accuracy. The only time it's decent is on milsims with longer barrel shrouds.

all i would say is if it is accurate for you and you like it....keep it. i have a 12" all american and about 75+ feet back i can hit a 3inch wide fence post just fine. if you can do that...then you are set.

i had an 14 in AA, and i loved it,

but 18, idk, i like longer barrels, maybe 16, but, whatever floats your boat

i think he was just telling him what he thought in his opinion....and i never thought about that. if you don't like how long it is...all you have to do is buy a smaller front piece
