Those who know me... know i like to personalize my stuff. I was planning on doing a digicamo pattern to be a relatively good match in woods as well as urbanish areas, and i came up with a good camo scheme. Then all I needed was templates, and not a single store in the entire universe seems to carry that low tac ahesive sheet stuff, so I was out of luck. For days i sat around with nothing but a reciever completely stripped of paint, and then it hit me...
SPRAY ON ADHESIVE AND GRAPH PAPER! YAY!
Suprisingly, my ghetto method turned out very nice and is very strong to top it off.
The left side:

The right side:

and the money shot:

In between the 3 coats of different coloured paint, there were 6 coats of primer and 7 coats of varnish, and it is tough as nails... well, not literally. I'm still overly protective of it though :P
And to top it all off, my rampage board and jcs trigger arrived, and i'm at the point where i'm running out of upgrades lol!
My major complaint about existing camo patterns is that they are wayyyyyyy to dark to be used most places... Trees normally have a light brown/grey colour, and longer grass tends to turn yellow.... My plan was to make a pattern that would be good in many different forested areas, urban areas, grasslands, as well as slightly desert like areas, and i think i succeeded for the most part.

It's a good reg, but it's old and unused befor I bought it, so it's not as good as it should be. I tried to get some parts for it but the guy never sent them...
I'm going to probably get a palmers stab after I start working full time in the summer.

hmm i never saw it....
P.S. i think it's dumb to paint the grip/reg etc. because you'll be holding it anyways, and if you were to paint it, the paint would just rub off over time because you're always holding it.

i had a disaster a little while ago with my gun. I attempted to make a tigerstripe-type pattern on my a5 with olive drab and flat black with tan. The primer and olive basecoat was perfect, until i got impatient and taped it and sprayed the black too quickly....all peeled off when i pulled the tape back ill try it again soon once i get the heart.

Yeah, i hold onto my reg when i play. I just finished the R-5 so i'm gonna take new pics. I'm not gonna bother showing off my tac-cap and stock hopper once i finish them, because the tac cap is nothing special and everyone will think my stock one looks like crap the way i ripped it to shreads... It is now a nice 100 round sight hopper for my covert operations :P
As for action shots, I'll probably bring a camera when i go to play next week.
I just really hope the paint stands up to hits from paintballs, i'm scared it'll scrape off bit by bit. I clear coated it a lot though, 7 coats of varnish, so it SHOULD be strong. Wish me luck :P

peter? what are you talking about?
Anyways, I played today. My reg went all retarded so I took it off, I'll be ordering a Palmers Stabalizer sometime soon to replace it.
I couldn't crono by BPS because the crono at the paintball place would constantly read 12bps nomatter how much faster you're shooting, so I have no idea if I can truly get 20bps.
The ape board is great, though most of the modes never come in handy. I love 3 round burst, much more than I anticipated. I infact shot less paint using 3 round burst than I did when I had the gun completely on mechanical semi auto. I set the rampage board back to the standard 15bps, because I have already noticed it's useless to fire any faster.
Walking the trigger (especially while in turbo mode) becomes pretty much useless, because the recoil pushes the gun up the more you fire. I don't like stocks much, so I'll likely just live with it until I decide a LPK is in order (after new stab, mask, and barrel).

Alright, heres the stuff you need:
1.) A boring life with lots of time. 2.) Elmers Spray Adhesive. 3.) Assorted colours of spraypaint, I used 3 colours. 4.) Graph paper. 5.) Primer. 6.) Steel wool/sandpaper/paint stripper/paint thinner/whatever floats your boat. 7.) Small knife. 8.) Scissors. 9.) Varnish.
Ok, so start by deciding your colours. Best way is to take things from the environment you play in most, or the several environments you play in, and match some spraypaints to them as well as you can. The majority of camo patters are 3 or 4 colours, it really won't make a big difference if you choose either, just don't go under 3 colours, or over 4 (unless they are small touchups, which really don't apply in digicamo).
Once you have selected colours, decide the order in which you want them to appeare. Number them in reverse, so the colour you most want to be visible is number 3, and work your way down to number 1, which is the colour you least want to be visible (in my case, brown.)
Strip all the paint off the recievers. To do this I used plenty of stripper and a small knife, because I found the finish amazingly tough. Once you strip the paint, you'll want to take a medium grain sandpaper and rub all the metal, make sure there are small visible scratches everywhere you want the paint to stick.
*ENSURE ALL HOLES AND PLACES YOU DO NOT WANT PAINT TO ENTER ARE COVERED PROPERLY*
Now, spray the recievers with primer (very VERY light coats). Give each coat a little time to dry, and spray pretty much as many coats as you want. I did 6 thin coats. Give it plenty of time to dry after priming unless the can says otherwise.
After the recievers are primed and dry, spray colour #1. Remember, #1 is the colour you LEAST want to be able to see. Give it time to dry.
Now, go sit infront of a tv. Bring your graph paper and your scissors, you may want a pencil too. Draw out random patterns of squares and cut them out. Once they are all cut out, apply the Elmers Spray Adhesive to one side of them, and stick them on the recievers wherever you want the colour #1 to show through.
Now the recievers are ready for the coating of colour #2, repeat the previous step for each subsequent coating, until the final coat is complete.
Give some time for the final coating to dry, then gently remove the pieces of graph paper by hand (unless you may have a gentler method).
Once you are done removing the graph paper, you may proceed to varnish the recievers, unless the paint needs more time to dry. Spray the primer in several medium coats, not dripping but not thin. Do as many as you like, I did 7 to ensure it's a tough finish. Different varnishes may be thicker and not need to be applied as much.
Now, you're essentially done. If you have any other metal pieces you wish to paint, follow the exact same steps. If you have plastic parts (like my cyclone/hopper/apex end) then do everythign the same, minus stripping the paint. (I.E. scratch 'em up with sandpaper, prime them in layers etc.) You may want to give the varnish a few days to fully settle befor you take it on the battlefield. It should take paintball hits without scratching, though it will wear as any paintjob does, so be gentle if you really want to keep it looking new.
I think that's about it.
Enjoy!
