Snoop does suck, now, but we were talking strictly 90's stuff.
And I cant really recomend any particular song, as all of the tracks I
have are labeled as track 1, track 2, etc. Just "buy" an album and
enjoy.

Dude, no.
You we're just ghey. Yes, alot of people liked backstreet and nysnc, but it was about a 90% female fanbase. If you were a guy and you liked them back then, you were considered very homosexual.

I'm almost 19, so I'm close enough...and I dont know what's wrong with you, but Backstreet Boys and NSYNC were, and still are girls bands. I dont know a guy who ever seriously said "OMG, BACKSTREET BOYS ARE COMING OUT WITH A NEW SINGLE!"

i was in the 5th grade when they were a hit. maybe 2/20 kids truely knew what g.ay meant.
in MY school, the fanbase was about everybody. you dont live near me, so you cant argue statistics.
and chewp, you are right and wrong. right, as in everyone in the 7th grade found them quite "homo" but wrong the fifth graders at the same time liked them. that would be a "you vs. me" comparison. 2 years is a lot to learn to hate a band. they were in for maybe 5th grade, then they were out with pokemon when we hit 6th grade, or jr. high.

I'll vouch for the 2 year age difference being pretty damn influential when we were that young. I'm 19, so I was smack in the thick of the pop explosion. God, when Christina Aguilera came out with the Genie in a Bottle video I quivered.

You're not alone. I'm 28, and when I was your age (I just read this over and I cannot believe I just said that) my younger sister was into New Kids on the Block, or NKotB as they called them. Her room was covered in their posters and I heard their music day and night through my walls. Talk about annoying.
Anyhow, I was in high school from fall of '92 to spring of '96, so that is the music that sticks out most in my mind. For me, the 90's were the golden age of music, and I try to listen to that as much as possible. We have 96.5 the Buzz that plays alternative and the 90's At Noon program. I get to hear some newer music through them, and still listen to my older stuff. A good combination.
Some bands that I didn't like then I like now for nostalgia's sake. Even if I didn't like it I remember the things I was doing while it played.
Cake, They Might Be Giants, Liz Phair, No Doubt, Sound Garden, Nine Inch Nails, Korn (Freak on a Leash always came on while we were rock climbing), Ben Folds Five, Blind Melon, Collective Soul, Deep Blue Something, Bush, Natalie Imbruglia (I will foreve associate her album with when I almost died when I went skydiving), Sublime, Nirvana, Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, White Zombie, Smashing Pumpkins, Smash Mouth, U2...
Plenty of others I'm sure, but those stand out.

I didn't take time to read through all the posts...
I definately feel that the nineties were far more innovative and entertaining than the entertainment industry is now.
The band I remember most from the nineties...Creed...yeah I outgrew them, but as a kid it influenced my music tastes away from the horrible torture land that is country (yes I admit it...it's Texas c'mon give me a break...) and towards alternative. The nineties really were the golden years for alternaive rock, IMO...kind of like what the seventies were to pop-rock/psychadelica.
I can't believe nobody's listed Alice in Chains (I could have missed a post...like I said I didn't read throught the whole thing). Alice in Chains had some of the best alternative/hard rock from the early nineties out there-Down in a Hole, Man in the Box, Alone, Heaven Beside You, etc. They were a pretty big influence on the alternative rock of the mid-nineties.
Matchbox 20 was...a little feminine for my tastes...but an inventive band nonetheless. They blended alot of crap together-seems like I remember Dave Matthews being that way (don't remember any of their songs though). The Foo Fighters did a remake of Pink Floyd's Have a Cigar that was pretty distinctive-don't remember much else that they did though.
I miss the nineties...everything on the radio was like, groundbreaking hits all the time. That Lifehouse song got played like ten times a day, but it was all good anyway. Now it seems like it's just whatever's popular at the moment from hasbeen hard rock/emo bands...not dissing emo, just not my thing. As for hard rock...if I hear Godsmack or Buckcherry on the radio one more time...
There are some pretty cool bands playing right now-Three Doors Down still makes awesome music, Shinedown's good stuff, but alot of the bands I liked a few years back have lost it. StainD just plain sucks, no way around it, and most of the old alt bands really don't catch much radio time anymore. Eminem...everyone used to talk about his art styles, how he was the Quentin Tarantino of recording artists, now he's just another pop icon like all the rest.
And nineties pop sucked...the Backstreet Boys were useless lumps of boy-putty that wreaked of sexual confusion and self-touching.
