Don't worry, you won't need to spend $1000. Think more along the lines of $3000.
Ain't gonna happen. Also, wrong forum. Try New Players next time.

Ya that what me and my friends are doin were gonna buy a scuba tank and fill are tanks up that way when were not at a field.
And just cause your not a new player you can still post in there.
As you can see tippmann forum doesn't have a paintball talk section.
So just post your questions in the new player forum

I use a SCUBA tank, I had to pay to get it re-certified and they fill it for free.

T&O is specifically for non paintball. Your inquiry best fits new players.
Yes, you could get a scuba tank and just get it filled- that's not particularly expensive. A lot of scuba shops will rent a tank for about $10-15 a day. You specified an air compressor, so I answered the questio as asked.

scuba tank:
i found at my local scuba shop a 3000psi tank and a deep-six.com a fill station
3000psi tank- $139.00
paintball fill aparatus- $145.00 thats with the shipping.
total: 284.00
$5.00 a fill the 3000psi tank. you would get around 17,500-20,000 shots.
i usally have to go around 40 mi. to get my tank filled. i have allot of friends that uses compressed air. i could sell the air and make the money back.

That's a good proposition, but just make sure your rig is done right and is safe. Even though they're your friends, they could still get your ass in trouble if something goes wrong.

Do you have to be certified to fill HPA with a scuba tank, or what?

no/yes...NO. when you buy the tank you have to. but. you can sign a waiver saying that you wont use the tank for breathing/under water use. deep-six said they will sell you the whole deal.
whats not safe about it? i wouldn't be letting my friends use it. im looking into getting a apparatus that has everything that gos from the scuba tank to your paintball gun tank. the apparatus includes the yoke, bleeder, gauge, and a hose with the fittings to go to your tank.

scuba tanks are incredibly easy to use, but you should be shown how first. a lot of my friends who work at the local shop have scubas that they have filled with the shop's compressor. they actually fill up to 4.5k too. all you have to really do is turn a couple knobs.
remember though... scuba tanks don't fill as much as you may think. I suggest getting your individual tanks filled, then using the scuba to top off as needed through out the day.

If you're buying a K-valve SCUBA, all you need is one of these:
http://www.a-1paintballstore.com/32-Degrees-Scuba-Fill-Station.html - http://www.a-1paintballstore.com/32-Degrees-Scuba-Fill-Stati on.html
The more expenisve ones are for DIN style tanks, which aren't usually 3k psi.

Dude, nobody's posted in this thread since last July. Read the date of the last post before you reply.
Also, no stealing Thor's avatar.

My team just rents a filled scuba tank from a store, (its 8 bucks), the tank is pretty big, and if i remeber fills about 8-10 68/3000 tanks (they get slightly less filled every time, 3000, 2900, 2800, etc....
