I was playing around in my backyard and I was using a large cardboard box as a target. (had a blast!!! 20bps A5 egrip vortex mod)anyway I was looking at the box after I was done and thought that a cardboard box would be great for the ARMOR of a tank. Other wise known as an old golf cart with a cage on it. You could put the cardboard in front of a kill switch. the cardboard will stand up to the paint at first but when it starts to get wet it will let the paint go though to hit the kill switch. which in turn will knock out the tank for that round... you could put one one each side and front and back. but to kill it you have to hit all of them (or just 2, or whatever...)
what do you all think about this? Or is that already been done?

good idea but..i wouldn't use cardboard for the water reason. you dont want to change the carboard everytime you play. insted of carboard use sheet metel or something that wont decay.

but sheet metel will not break down after so many hits that is what i was thinking. what water reason? rain? just put some strips of tape (not alot) across it. will hold up to rain but not repeated shots from a paintball gun. see?

i guess... you could just use a small hole netting. that way you my get paint slatered on you. or you could just build a tank and then on the back of it have a switch that makes you stop in a certin amount of sec.
idk i dont like the cardboard idea

Actually they do have kill switches, and they are in a hole the same diameter as a paintball. So unless you have exteme accuaracy, you just luck the sucker in there.
It seems to work great, becuase it is so rare that it happens. Plus all tanks are suseptable to missles, and there are always a few people that have one at a scenario.

Tanks are cool but they have to go walking speed and you have to prove you have something like $30.000 worth of ins. on it.
monk what is a PGP anyways?

i like the cardboard idea to get to a kill switch, the tanks at my local field just have a piece of paper taped, to the side of it and as soon as the papper is shot off the vehicle is dead, i think its stupid because the paper usually falls off before you get a chance to shoot it. but if the cardboard was secure and would fall off from the wind or the bouncing of the tank then i like it.

PGP is a pump pistol. Love it.
My goal in life is to be the grenade-laden, mine settin', ordanance wieldin' woodsball junky with a cheap pistol. That = fun.

Its a little too much mebe but you could get some relatively cheap LDR's (otherwise known as Light Dependant Resistors), they basically work like LEDs in reverse. It wouldnt be too hard to setup a small network of them to a panel (like 10 or so spread out) with a plastic shield about half an inch above it, and just program a basic 8 pin chip to set off a peizo alarm/kill switch when light levels get too low (i.e. after being covered in paint).
I made something like this in 4th form electronics (I dunno wot that equates to in americania... I was 14 so thats grade something...). Only cost me like 10 bucks in parts, so if you have uber basic know how it can be done.
Thats a bit more of a permanant and effective way, but ghetto-cardboard works too

Here in the states, we call them photoresistors.
But seriously, why would you need cardboard or even paper. A kill switch is just an electronic switch that shuts off the engine. Just stick it in a hole.

I get what he is saying. Light armor vehicles with replacable cardboard as armor. The armor would stand up to the first few shots in that area, then gradually weaken, then pierce it. When they pierce, it can hit a kill switch representing the engine, or take out the people inside. I actually think that's kinda nifty.

It does sound like a good idea except you would have to change the cardboard alot.

how about you run a couple layers of tinfoil between two connections, and when you shoot the tinfoil enough, it rips off and kills the engine

tin foil will rip with like the first shot, and what if you have a camo tank, the tin foil will give you away lol.

I personally like the Photoresister ideal. just make a cube out of six sheets of plastic. One is transparent and lets light in. Shoot it until it has no more light, and it shuts off the engine.
If you seal it up all good, it will stand up to rain and everything. Its a relatively simple and inexpensive idea that might just broaden your horizons of electronics.

they have the nerf guns or like a foot wide hole w/ pressure plate, that you shoot a bunch of times, if you hit it enuff, it cuts the battery on the vehicle......

what if with the tinfoil you scored the tinfoil so when the balls hit it would just ri[ out a small piece, and you have to hit it accurately, say 10 times, and then the connection is broke
I like the photoresistor cube idea. Just get like 1 on each side (2) or on up on top, and have it so you just have to blackout one side of the cube. Make 6 seperate insulated panels and screw them together. You'd need some handyman skills but it would be better than only being able to blackout on side.
