Get the flatline barrel. I have one for my Tippmann A-5 and I love it.
It adds distance and is really accurate.

I do believe that may be the only draw-back to the flatlines... small paint is usually expensive, medium is somewhat affordable.........
Flatline = Range
J&J/Bigshot = accuarcy
I was gonna get a flatline but decided to get a lapco bigshot!  Then again I heard the goods and bads about the flatlines like forever in the tippmann forums..

I have a flatline for my A-5 I mostly buy Nelson Hot Spot and some RPS Stingers.  I have shot many different varieties of paint, and have yet to break a ball or notice a problem with accuracy.  And the flatline on the 98c just looks bad a**. IMO

wow first topic ive seen that nobody said apex.

apex is better than flatline in every way but looks. it has a bit of a learning curve but its worth it.

Hmm... well maybe i might start a poll to see what gets more votes. if apex gets more votes i might get it.

Definetly go with the Flatline barrell.  Great distance and accuracy with it on.  I have one on my A-5 and it sends most players scrambling for cover.  The only side effect I found was its sound.  The Flatline barrell is one of the loudest on the market.  Yet again this can also intimidate.

i would have to say if yuo have other friends that have either a flatline or apex to try them out to see if you like one or the other.. and also my friend bought an apex about a month ago and we tested it out back in his woods and there really wasnt a need for the curving it justed messed up our game. eventually after a couple days of playing with the apex my friend threw the **edited**er in the the river and that was the end of that

Eh iv heard the flatlines picky on paint at times and ( not sure if true ) they go out after like 20,000 shots ? but i personally dont care for either butttttttttt if you gonna get 1 or the other get the Flatline just promise me you arent gettin it so you can call yourself your a sniper.*shivers*

All i know is that my apex fires farther than any flatlines i've come up against, in truth it makes little difference, but it's still an edge.

It's also much more accurate at range, and you can use the cheapest crappiest hugest bore paint ever and it will work fine.  Using the exact same paint, it's quite close to the accuracy of the bigshot when the backspin setting is off, so it's a decent straight barrel too.  When I play indoors I just remove the front block because it's useless at short range, and it's much more accurate than the stock barrel, as well as matches up to things like the j&j and some smartparts barrels.

Lat time I went out with my A5 (Flatline), a friend of mine there brought his with a new APEX mounted.  We saw a guy in the distance and started to fire single shots at him just for giggles as we were well hidden.  My friend was able to hit him a good 10 yards farther out than where I would have been able to (judging from trajectories and distances I was getting)  Even with his range being better than mine I still would have been able to nail my target long before the guy would have been able to fire back and hit me.

yep ive heard apex gives 80 ft more range than flatline.

just to clear this up, what is flatline level on apex, how many clicks?

i hate putting apex in farthest mode cause you have to aim up or balls will hit ground

You have to take into consideration that they're really two completely different things... the Apex is also a straight barrel, and is much more accurate when being used as such, also much less paint picky.  In the long run the apex could save you money because you may eventually want a barrel that works as a straight barrel.

Instead of having the flatline and another barrel, you could just have a single apex.

And you still haven't figured out the "edit" button, try not to double post please.

Niether, get a cheap but quality J&J and spend the rest of the money towards other ups (like an excellent mask), your marker is bare.

hmmm... well i like the apex because they have ak47 and m4 barrels that have an apex equipped on the end. unless for all of you who hate mil sim.
