This may disturb a few of you, but it's an honest question.
I do a lot of running, and in the heat I naturally sweat a fair bit- particularly in the groin/butt region. It's at the point now where natural hair growth is starting to chaff me on long runs- I just did a 15km, and my buttcrack feels on fire. I'm giving serious though to shaving of the crotch and buttcrack, but I figure there have to be a few people on here who do it regularly and can give me advice about what to/not to do. I don't want any unpleasant surprises like colossal razor burn on my taint or any such.
If any of your hairless wonders can give me some tips based on experience I'd appreciate it. I take my running rpetty seriously, but a chaffed scrotum is no fun. Also, let's please not have more than one or two links to the Phillips 'shave everywhere' site, please.
Cheers

15km is what, about 10 miles?
I'm thinking use an electric shaver, not too too close. Leave enough for it to not be stubbly/sharp.

yea, just use some baby powder, put it on before you go and after you get back, unless your going right into a shower after running

A bit shy of ten miles, yeah.
I use foot powder anyway, but it just doesn't do the job on the long runs. It's fine for eight or ten KM, but beyond that it just isn't enough, and I'm up to running half marathons on occasion.
YWSM- perfect, exactly the kind of info I need. Thanks.

I do wear boxers, that's the weird thing.
Idk if its fuzz from my boxers or jeans...but the fuzz is generally blue
its not that big of a problem, as i take a shower if i sweat anyway

Speaking of Bic's thats always an option. I used to use a bic ligher with the safety removed to remove hair on my face. A bic was better then a zippo or butane because the flame can be lit quickly and simply, turned off just as quickly, isnt as hot as a butane and are easy to operate with one hand.
Place next to target area, light quickly and release just as quickly, burns the hair long before it burns your skin. Granted I only did this on my face (no razor avalible, this was when I was on camp staff mind you) but I'd imagine if your careful it would remove the stubble from trimming painlessly. I wouldnnt ty it on thick patches of longer hair cause that stuff can burn for a while and the song "Great Balls of Fire" will have a new meaning for you

Speaking of feet, I'm not a big fan of foot powder.
I prefer lubricants. Try a water based lubricant. If it'll work for cleats, it'll work for runners.

HA, after running for 3 years, I no longer grow hair on my gooch. All the rubbing and chafing got to it I guess.

I naired my butt around thanksgiving. It worked well but itched about a week and a half later for about two days. I probably should have done it again in about march but I put it off untill a week ago when I hit it up with a hair trimmer. I'd say the trimmer was a better way to go then the nair because then you don't have to deal with itching. My reason for doing it other than looks was the same as yours, chaffing. I work outside in a lumber yard all day so I sweat a lot and I also have to walk a lot which would lead to me being a bit chaffed after work some days.

As one of the*ahem* heftier people in the army, i also get alot of sweat in the bass region(otherwise known as Duck Butter to those in the know)
three word:Gldbond Medicated Powder.
Like i thousand tiny little fingers massaging your twig and berries whilst you ru/force march.
Shaving only works if you stay current, and no one has enough time to shave their bass every day.

Thor, I put on medicated powder (AKE Menthol) after the ING Ottawa half marathon- NOT cool. Menthol + sweaty nutsack = PAIN.
I'm resolved to the hair removal thing. Yes, I wear proper running shorts- no underwear, just running shorts. I might just shave with the grain and see how that works, but I'm stll debting it. Either way, I want the hair gone. Powder and proper running shorts does not suffice.
I might just shave with the grain next time I take a shower... It won't make brutal stubble that way...

I usually wear spandex or some sort of tight running shorts to protect my sac and taint from chaffing. As for chaffing of the ass-crack, I don't know what to tell you. Sorry to say, I have a really hairy ass and I don't really have a problem with it chaffing too badly. Hope everything works out.
