Is there any real downside to "upgrading" my 98c with a pen spring mod?  What type of pen can I get where the spring that is too thick so I can go full auto?

a pen spring mod is supposed to lighten your trigger pull by putting in a light pen spring. not make it thicker... right?

You don't want to do this, trust me, your gun will turn into a blender.

Just look for a top-clicking pen and use the spring from it. You will probably have to cut it to fit. No downside to it.

The pen spring mod is just replacing the trigger return spring with a lighter spring for a lighter pull. It won't allow you to go full auto or become a blender. It's not really much of a performance increase and it doesn't really have a negative aspect but some people prefer it to the stock spring. I took mine out all together since I have the rt to return the trigger for me.

Don't waste your time on the trigger spring. It will do nothing to affect your gun's performance. If you really want to do something, take it out altogether.

So, you have an E-Grip, right?

in my experience you should completly take it out.

it really only works with electric guns. i did it once and saw a rof increase but it wobbles a lot and i play woodsball anyways so i put it back on.

so in my opinion: good for speedball, bad for woodsball

it doesn't really do anything.  it's a placebic affect.  if you're going to do it, might as well take it all the way out.

This is only true if you have an e-grip.

If your gun is mech, stock or with r/t, the trigger spring does nothing but make the pull harder.  Take it out completely, and it will work fine, but be much lighter.

Not sure, give it a try, you can always put it back if it doesnt work.

If you have the E-grip, you might as well do the pen spring mod though.
