First I use a Custom 98 - E. I was rather disturbed at what happened recently. Last weekend (7/22) in the middle of game play a rain storm came thru the field. At the end of game play I put on the barrel cover and safety and placed it on a table and was in the general area talking to my team mates. All of a sudden my marker started to automatically fire paint. The paint BLEW right thru my barrel cover and started to spray a snack shack and picnic table area, as I was running back to find out what was happening. A friend and I grabbed the marker, he covered it with a towel as I disconnected the air. It was still"firing" as the solinoid was clicking away like mad. It seems as though the solenoid and electronics got wet in the rain so I disconnected the battery. Has anyone else experienced this? Has there been any discussion around gasketing the electronics to prevent moisture penetrating?

Some people use the "make your own gasket stuff" you can find it at Walmart in the automotive section.

Others use that spray insulations stuff.

Really anything will work, but you should always turn everything off when not using it.

Why did you not cover your gun from the rain? You know electronics and water don't mix? But yes a gasket would help. You could make a gasket pretty easy really, simply find some weather stripping. Hopefully you can find it with sticky side. Put a thin piece of it on one frame around the electronics of the marker and then when you come to the part where you have to cross the fram to make a tight seal, use cardboard to make a bridge across it and seal it all up.

The thing is it was raining (torrents) out on the field but stopped once the game finished. So when it started to "autofire" it wasn't rainning at that time and I had just finished cleaning off the "muck" and it appeared dry, but whatever.

I think the Gasketing idea, automotive or otherwise is a good idea. I'll try this weekend and post the results the next time I get caught in a down pour with my marker.

you might not want to do it so it seals your grips cuz if you ever do any, like a board, itll be hard to pop it open, do something that just surrounds the electrical stuff

sorry... By new I meant the APE board is suppose to be coated with a water resistant material. But I still would not submerge it.
