Hey all, I got my C-3 about a week ago, and I've been tooling around with it every day after work. For the first few days it shot like a bb gun with pellets; very little velocity deviation and great accuracy. Since then I have torn it down to do a very thorough cleaning and proper oiling job. Per the manual's instructions, I re-adjusted the propane regulator (I have done this a couple times). Now I am experiencing some much greater velocity discrepancies. I can't get the distance I want without turning the velocity up to full (screw all the way in, or very close to max). Obviously, my paint was more inaccurate at this new speed. Turning my velocity down doesn't really help with accuracy, either, and I definitely don't get the distance I was getting. Occasionally, the gun will give a dull thwump and give me a velocity around 200fps or less. (1 in 20 shots, maybe?) Sometimes, if I dip the barrel, the ball will roll out. So I guess I'm asking if there is a way to fine tune the regulator. Does it really matter if you're "home" (50:50 between too lean and too rich) or can you be anywhere in there as long as it fires? Would this help? Is it my paint? It's not old just pretty crappy quality. I didn't really suspect this because it was working pretty decent before. I'm heading up to Skirmish this weekend, I hope I can get this worked out before that... Has anyone experienced anything similar and found a fix or can point me in the right direction? First I would take a look at the gas transfer tube on the right side of the gun. The little thin low pressure line on the exterior that runs from the front to the rear. Is it pinched or damaged or anything? Check the o-rings on the little fittings it uses too. Second, I would look at the fuel injector valve on the front, its the brass piece right under the barrel at the very front. On mine, I was getting very erratic shot accuracy, and Tippmann fixed it up. One of the major problems was there was a piece of metal shaving in the valve there, preventing it from pushing in all the way. Try pushing it in with your finger or pumping it, the brass valve should end up totally pressed into the hole its mounted in. So when you pump it all the way back, you shouldnt be able to see much, if any, of the tip of the brass valve between the plastic pump handle and the front of the reciever. If you want to check it out, and make sure theres no crud or debris in the valve, youll need a pair of snap ring pliars to remove the snap ring that holds the valve in. Should be like $4 from a hardware store, or you could try using some other "non standard" method of removing it. The regulator on the C3 seems to be pretty fickle, but its not too horrible. As for your paint roll-out, the wire ball detent in the barrel only prevents double feeds. Once you pump forward and the ball is chambered, the only thing that holds it in the breech of the barrel is a good paint to barrel match. So your paint seems to be too small for the barrel. That could also affect your accuracy. -------------
