was outside in woods playin a game, then it started pouring hard on us. ive never got my gun wet before, is it bad, what do i do when its that wet?...just dry it off? do i have to take it apart and dry insides too incase water got in?.

Well it would help if you would tell us what kind of gun you have. If you have a mechanicle gun than I would say dry it off and maybe take it apart and just be sure and check everything to see it's alright. If your gun is electronic then you might be in some serious trouble. Make sure it works properly and dry it off. Again take it apart to be sure and check everything.

If its a tippmann, the only thing keeping you from playing with it underwater is your paintballs melting, your gun can handle water very well, as said above, drying it out and lubing it are good ideas though.

so wana explain where/how to lube it? my first time owning a gun...ive never bothered to learn when renting all these years. in manual it says lube front and rear bolt o-ring?...so basically i hav eto take out all the screws and pins on the gun, and lube the insides?

Step by step:

Screw in velocity screw all the way
Remove the hopper
Remove the barrel
Remove the 6(?) screws holding the body together (note, they are large, dont mistake the valve screws or grip screws as body screws)
Open receiver halfs
Remove the rear bolt (big shiny silver thing), linkage arm (between the two) and front bolt, leave the valve assembly (I think, I dont think its removable, sorry havent done this in a while).
Wipe off wherever on the receiver halfs something moves, clean off old grease, water, etc.
Wipe off the sear and triger assembly if its wet
Apply the lube tippmann sent with your gun, Hoppes #9 is ideal although I think tippmann is usuing a new lube, not sure. When you lube, put a few drops on your finger and rub a decent coat on your rear bolt, linkage arm, the tracks they and the front bolt go in, the o-rings on all these bolts and anything else that moves basically. Use your judgement.
Reassemble gun, but leave the barrel OFF
Put 3-4 drops of oil in your ASA
Gas up gun and fire about 50 - 75 times till all the oil comes out and the oil in your gun moves around.
When no more oil is comming out when you fire, attach the barrel and hopper
Finished

Its a lot trickier then it sounds, if you have any problems durring cleaning post and we'll help you out. Best of luck!

k i just took it apart...now im trying to figure out where everything goes. i have no more co2...can the firing wait until later?

Consult your manuel, it should have a diagram to help. Theres also a pic of the internals in one of the stickies in this forum.

You can wait to shoot the gun, just dont add the oil to the ASA yet.

whats ASA?

and im finished..took me over a **edited**ing hour. i had trouble getting the cocking handle spring to stay in, kept popping out when i was putting the other half on. and then i couldnt get the tomstone adapter in, but took out the pins and then it somehow just went in..?
after i put the grip frame back on...the trigger felt a little more loose unless its my imagination, i dont remember it going in that much when i pressed it.

yeah, that cocking spring in a pain in the ass. i'm never taking my a5 apart again because of that dang thing.
as for the tombstone, there are two things holding it in, the spring loaded latch, and the pushpin adjacent to it. to insert it the pushpin must be out. to remove it, same thing. it's a safety thing.
asa is what the tank screws into

Water can't be that bad, think about it if you don't have an EXP Chamber for C02 liquid is constantly going into your gun on the internal parts, they don't seem to rust so....

CO2 liquid or gas is not corrosive to aluminum or steel. Water is.

ApC23,

You really need to download the manual for your marker and learn the part names and how all those parts fit together.

There are several stickies that will cover the assembly process. And, do a search when you find something you don't understand. If your marker malfunctions during play and you do not know how to take it apart and reassemble it you are out for the rest of the day.

just make sure its dry inside and out to avoid anything rusting, and then lube up the internals

Yeah, those instructions posted were for a 98 custom, if you have an A5 like you said you dont need to open the gun halves at all.

Pop out the 4 push pins, one on the endcap two on the gripframe and one on the tombstone. Push back the safety latch on the tombstone and pull it out, remove the gripframe from the gun body.

Then just make sure the velocity screw is screwed in past the reciever, tilt the thing back and all the guts should slide out the back. Simple as pie. If the hammer comes out but the rest doesnt just drop out, grab ahold of it and yank.

Just oil the hammer and the linkage arm, the front bolt doesnt need it. To reassemble it just hold the front and rear bolt valve and linkage arm together, and slide it in the back. Then just reverse the other steps.

As for what rain can do, the only thing that will really affect you is rain in the barrel will do the same thing as a broken paintball, it will screw up your accuracy.

Simple trick, if it rains just take some tape and wrap the holes midway down the barrel, and try not to aim up at the sky too often.
