Preface: I searched for Cigarillo, a thread from march, 2005, was the only one to show up.
to start the thread off, i've been around smoking all my life. my dad smokes, my stepmother smoked, my grandmother smokes, and some friends of mine smoke. originally i was not a fan of it period. i could tolerate smoke but i did not like to. i tried cigarettes, didn't like them. then i tried a cigar, liked it better than a cigarette but it lasted too long and it was way too phallic. tonight, i got a wild hare up my ass to go down to the gas station and buy a pack of Black and Milds. to me, they smell good, i'm definitely a fan of pipe tobacco, and i liked how it smoked.
gotta say i don't see myself becoming a habitual or routine smoker, but occasionally i might be able to stand a cigarillo. the poll question pretty much explained the thread purpose, post what you prefer and why. *looks forward to funky and shenk posting*
and for the love of god, if any of you post LOL MARY JANE, i will see to it that you get a fat strike.

Where is the option "all of the above"?
I used to despite smoking all together until about a year ago I tried a cigar. After that it moved to cigarillos, then pipe tobacco, and now cigs. Somewhere in there I tried chew and liked that aswell. It depends on my mood how I want to get my nicotine fix so you can say I don't perfer anything over anything else. If you want to know a hint about black&milds take the tip off. You will get a lot more smoke out of it. Hookah is also pretty good.

i've grown very fond of cigars. I'm not going to be smoking them every day, but they are nice for when you need to relax, or are doing other things that call for a nice cigar, poker, golfing, sitting on your porch on a nice summer night. I actually got into them because some of my friends used to have a poker night every now and then, and they'd buy some cigars and hand em out to those that didn't have any. I've found that a good cigar makes an enjoyable night even more enjoyable. If everyone else is smoking them, it adds to the social interaction. And if you're smoking alone... it's just nice and relaxing. I've gone to my front porch after a stressful day and light up a cigar and just sit and smoke for 30-45 minutes.
I don't think I could sit around my apartment all day and just smoke a cigar while watching tv or whatever...
I'm guessing since you're into the small cigars now, you'll eventually get into the real cigars. at least for some occasions.

I love my pipe. I buy nice tobacco from a shop every now and again. It's not expensive, and I don't use it up quickly. A cigar is nice, but a pipe has a unique quality, aroma, and weight to it. I prefer it.

You don't inhale 3 of the 4 options selected.
Also, cigarillo's are just short filler cigars, so I don't know if you need them both.
I've dabbled in pipes, and I'd still like to acquire a nice one someday.
But since I started working at the cigar store, my mind is more focused on cigars.

I only smoke when I'm drunk, so it has to be cigarettes. Cigars last too long and I would probably break a pipe, and I definatly would not be able to pack it or keep up with the tobacco.

I smoke Ciggarettes(yea even though I have a Heart Condition) but I
usally enjoy a good Cigar once in awhile, but when I'm not in the Mood
for either Cigar or the Taste of my Menthol New Ports, I'll usally go
out and buy a Pack of Sweet Dreams(They are like a normal Ciggarette
but the filters have been coated with a taste like Cherry, mint, or
Chocolate), I really like the Mocha Chocolate Flavored ones.
MMMM....

My pipe has the added benefit of requiring some effort to get to. You've got to go and get the pipe, tobacco, possibly a tamper, and matches, and then you pack it, light it, tamp it, get it burning nicely...
Nicotine does not calm people down. The act of smoking calms people down. The 'ritual' of a pipe is just more involved for me, and I like that. It also keeps me from getting it out at every whim. Just once in awhile.

For me its only cigars, and only nice ones. Cubans when i can get my hands on em, dominicans when i cant get cubans. My favorite brand is Romeo y Julieta, followed by Arturo Fuente, and H. Upmann. I only smoke em by myself since all of my friends are <18. its a good way for me to relax, and helps get me through summer reading assignments. anyone else have a favorite cigar brand?

I hate cigarettes, I dont see the point. Only things I'd smoke you dont actually inhale. I know its still not good for you, but I inhale enough propellant, paint and glue from my stencils that I'm sure I'd doing equal damage elsewhere.
I like some cigarello's. The ones I've liked I've only been able to find being sold as singles, but I know someone who had a pack of some good ones a while ago, so I should figure out what they were. Usually I only have them while drinking with some friends. I've had a real cigar now too, a Hoyo that I busted out at my last poker game. It was allright, but after a while I felt I was just smoking it for the sake of smoking it, not for enjoyment.
Havent smoked from a pipe, but I think I would, you can get some nice stuff for it.

I dabble. I smoke the occassional cigarette, but ive not had one in about a month now.
Also, cigars, cigarellos, pipe tobacco. Ive tried it all at one time or another. Cigars take too long to get through in my opinion. And i cant smoke at home, so i cant really sit on my porch and relax and enjoy taking my time smoking one.

Which means you don't smoke cigars, thats right I called your bluff.
To those who are all anal about smoking, 1 cigarette will not kill you or damage you for life. At least try it once!
My aunts father used to smoke 8 cigars and a pack a day for his adult life and doesn't have lung cancer or anything, he's the definition of pimp. Seriously.

Hmmm.
Favourite brands... I wouldn't even dare try to choose.
As a preface, I work at a cigar store in Toronto, 'La Casa Del Habano', we're essentially the Sony Store of Habanos, all over the world. Essentially, it's a company store for Cuban cigars.
With regards to sticks under 10$ CAN, there are 3 sticks that come to mind.
At #3, the Rafael Gonzalez Panetelas Extra.
The best Cuban cigar for under 5$. Although everyonce and a while you'll come across a tight draw since it's machine made, it's still a nice little smoke. Mild-medium strength with pepper and wood notes.
At #2, the Partagas Petit Corona Especial.
At just under 10$, it's an excellent choice for someone who craves a stronger cigar at a light price. It recently received a 91 from Cigar Aff. and I have trouble telling it from its hand-made counterparts.
At #1, the Por Larranaga Montecarlos.
Oh what a cigar for 10$. Anyone can enjoy this cigar, from mild to strong smokers alike. Mild to medium in strength, it's a very pleasant smoke, with caramel notes that you can actually taste! It's long pamatela shape is a joy to smoke. This cigar has really opened my eyes to other smaller ring guaged cigar. Here I come lancero!
My next post will cover cigars available to you Americans out there.

I seriously think people need to get over smoking being the most horrible thing in the world...I mean, it's bad for you, ok. Most things are. It can stink if you're dirty about it, ok, so don't be. You should stay "above the influence", but under theirs I guess, whatever....submit to the propaganda if you want. We smoke because we want to....get over it.

If I empty out a black and mild or cigar for other purposes, i'll use the left over tobaci to roll my own cigs. It's a pretty tasty smoke. Also i'm quite fond of these imported cigs from india my friend got. All natural tobacco rolled in a dried tobacco leaf.
