I finally got a new feedneck (empire) for my ion. I am having trouble getting the stock one off though. The manufacturers put it on so dang tight, its impossible to unscrew it.

I was told you should use a special wrench with a leather/rubber strap (I cant remember the name). If anyone knows the name of the wrench I would be happy to know, or if you used a different technique to remove the stock feedneck.

Btw, i have a halo b with rip.

They're just called strap wrenches. You should be able to pick one up at your local hardware store.

I've heard of Loctite being used on the stock feed necks.  If that's the case you might want to use a hair dryer or heat gun to loosen the Loctite.  Be careful not to heat it too much, though.

Use a wrench or...if you dont care much about the stock feedneck, a vise-grip.

I used my eggy to loosen mine up. It was unintentional, because the old feedneck was a pain in the backside. Twisting the hopper unscrewed the stock feedneck like nobody's business. The new Q-lock feedneck I got for my Ion works great!
