ok i got my new valve for my 98 since i stripped my first one, and it's been nothing but a hassle so far to put in. in the process of taking the stripped valve out, i cracked my wicked bolt powertube. :( then it was a pain to get in my original 98 powertube. now i can't get good seals on the valve screws and the air line that goes into the valve. i've put blue loctite in both places and left it to sit overnight, and it still leaks air from the air line connection, and the valve screws are loose. help! ------------- http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=5504952">

If you put ANY KIND of sealer on those threads where the fitting on the end of the hose screws into the valve...and you tightened it far enough it would have sealed!!! Failure to seal is caused by what? The threads on the hose fitting are bad for some reason? A new valve and you have trouble screwing the fitting in??? Did you actually LOOK at the hose fitting's threads? Did you cross thread it? You did use new screws on a new valve, RIGHT? There is really no durn reason in the world for a new valve with NEW screws to loosen if snugged gently but firmly EVEN IF YOU USED NO SEALANT AT ALL ON THEM. Maybe the reason you had to bump this thread was because all who read your problem AGAIN, just rolled their eyes and threw up their hands in disbelief. -------------

Don't use loctite on air line threads. Use teflon tape instead and get them nice and tight. Use red loctite on the screws that secure the valve. When having to remove the air line from the valve, remove the valve from the marker so you can hold it firmly. Then use a long wrench or put a piece of pipe over the end of a wrench to make it longer so you have more torque to remove it. This will make loosening stuck threads alot easier. You should also invest in a heat gun. A heat gun is like a hair dryer on steroids. You can get a heat gun for about $10.00-$15.00. well i tried blue loctite for one last time before i was gonna give up on it, and it worked on the airline. i put just a little bit and smeared it in the threads and that must have done the trick. i tried using teflon tape before and it didn't work so great either. thanks for the info though :) ------------- http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=5504952">

No matter what youve heard, loctite is not a thread sealant. Its intended for use on screws and fittings that can rattle loose. Use teflon tape, its much better. Makes a better seal, and its applied and done in 10 seconds, not like waiting for loctite to dry. If you tried it before and it "didnt work so great" did you wrap the tape correctly? You must wrap the tape CLOCKWISE on the threads, or it doesnt work. The reason is as you screw the thing into the other thing, the force twists the tape. If you put it on backwards it will just strip off. -------------

well the loctite sealed it up, should i take it apart and put teflon tape on? ya i only tried once and i obviously must have done it wrong cause it failed terribly. i saw some loctite and it looked easier to use so i did that. and thats what i've used since i guess. ------------- http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=5504952">

i have the powertube for the wicked bolt in right now. i purchased it off the rufus dawg website. also got my new valve back in the powertube and i'm leaking all over the place. i'm not sure if my air line is sealed up or not cause there is air coming out the front and possibly the back. i put everything together and when i gas it, it just gushes air everywhere. whats wrong? ------------- http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=5504952">
