Hey guys I just bought a new Tippman A5 w/Silver Finish. I also got a 20 oz CO2 standard tank. I'm wondering if I need some type of gauge/valve that will tell me how much pressure the tank has at the moment. I remember when I first went paintballing last year the rental guns had gauges on the tanks so that you could know when to stop filling it. Where can I get a gauge like that? Also I was reading something about how liquid CO2 may sometimes get into your gun and it's not a good thing. Do i need to worry about that? One more thing (for now): Should I also get a ON/OFF valve for the tank so that CO2 doesn't escape when I remove the tank? Thanks alot guys.. |

The on/off doesn't really make much of a difference, as most of the gas escaping is stored in the gun, and that will be lost eventually anyway. Yes, for the most part, liquid CO2 in guns is bad, but it shouldn't do much to a Tippmann! Also, your rental guns sound like they run on compressed air, as I have yet to see a CO2 tank with a pressure guage. CO2 is measured in weight when filled. | The rentals were Tippman Pro/Carbine, and I remember that they had pressure gauges as well as an extra nipple sticking out of an adapter on the tank so that you could fill it up without disconnecting it from your gun. |

Yep, that was an HPA (high pressure air) tank. It's another name for a compressed air tank, which is another name for a nitrogen tank. ------------- Evil Elvis: "Detrevni is definally like a hillbilly hippy from hell"

Congrats on the new gun. One of the best. | Probably was an HPA tank. Only other thing it could have been was a tippmann quick fill valve, but I don't think they have guages. |

i've seen rentals with hpa. great place to play before i moved away. yep, sounds like hpa. if you're planning on staying in the sport, i'd pick up a tank like that. they're not only easier to use and such, they operate more consistantly and such. btw, my last name is wilson, welcome to the forum! ------------- X |

| For a good size, yes, I paid 315 bucks just for the reg (no bottle). But, a good 68/4500 can be had for 180, new, from a shop. Cheap, small 48/3000 tanks can be had for 50 bucks or so. |

I read an article on HPA tanks (http://paintball.about.com/cs/airsystems/a/nitro.htm). It talks about how it's hard to find a place to fill up an HPA tank. So should I just stick to my CO2 tank? And does anyone here live in New Jersey and/or has gone to Top Gun Paintball near Six Flags Great Adventure? |

| Only stick to C02 if no one NEAR YOU can fill HPA. Call around and ask what the shops can fill. |

Ok, do you have a bulk CO2 tank, a CO2 fill station and digital scale? that's what you need to fill a CO2 tank. Down in Brampton Ontario Canada they use HPA on Tippmann 98's all year round.
