I'm a pretty devout christian and I really disagree with him. It is 100% true that you can't prove the existance of God, so why teach it in school? Things about the bible already get covered in most history classes while learning about the French, British, and Romans.

I say we get back to the basics in schools and stop the frustrating cycle of
cranking out functionally illiterate "graduates" who are only prepared for asking "would you like fries with your order" and living in their parents basements. If "100% absolutely proven" is your standard, then we shouldn't have science class or history class. There is more evidence for evolutionary theory than there is for half of what you learn in science class. |

But on the serious side, you do have a good point. A lot of those things are unproven, but in science, those things (at least most of them) have had scientific exspiraments and other things done to back them up. Sure you can. Your statement baffles me a bit - even rudimentary investigation into evolutionary science would inform you that there is a vast body of experimental knowledge underlying current theory. Heck, based on your statement alone I would bet that you don't even know what evolutionary theory really is. Don't take my word for it - please, I would like nothing more than for you (and everybody else) to read up on evolution. But I am telling you that there is more evidence of every kind for basic evolutionary theory than there is for much of what you learn in science class. |

There is no "word for word" to know - and even the basics will vary a bit depending on who you ask. But I think most people will agree that the following are included: 1. Common descent 2. Characteristics transferred between generations 3. Mutation 4. Natural selection That's about it - which of those are you unsure about? |

It didnt randomly appear, Its (proven is the key word) a proven fact of science that no living thing can come from a non-living thing. Soooo where'd it come from? You are very misinformed. First - is not a "proven fact of science" that no living thing can come from a non-living thing. Whoever told you that? But much more importantly - what you are describing has nothing to do with evolution. Nothing at all. You are describing abiogenesis, which is a fledgling theory about the origins of life. Evolution has nothing to do with the origins of life at all. Evolution has to do with the origins of SPECIES (just like the title of Darwin's book). Abiogenesis is completely different from, and unrelated to, evolutionary theory. |

"Scientific law of" are just words. If I declare "Clark's Scientific Law of TV" to state that "All TV sucks", that doesn't make it so. Many "scientific laws" are unproven, false, or just made up. In this case it is neither - it is simply misinterpreted. As your article says, Pasteur's work was a study of CURRENT life. Pasteur (at best) proved that life observed today came from other life. He did not prove, nor is it my recollection that he was trying to prove, that no life could or did ever come from non-life. Creationists, on the other hand, glom on to the literal wording of his statements, quoting him out of context, and completely ignoring the actual studies that he did.
EDIT - But mainly I need to reiterate my point stated above that the study of evolution does not address the origins of life. Evolutionary theory is about the evolution of life and origins of species, not the origins of life. |

well in all honesty why would you teach the bible in school, that's what sunday school or catholic school etc. is all about. Public school is not the place to teach the bible, maybe the history of the bible like others said or the origins of religions but definately not the bible itself, if a muslim said they can learn about the crusades in schools how come they cannot teach the koran would you honestly take that person seriously
