Oh...way to kill my dreams lawl a little dissapointed because that the B4 looks a lot better and people rated it better. What upgrades do you recommend for the 98? Besides the lapco barrel I'm getting. I don't want that double trigger crap. I'd rather be sniping then that fastball.
EDIT: Can someone please reply I need to have a marker by next week.

get the r/t. and for speedball, nitro is a really good idea. additionally a decent regulator. but if u knew, just play some with ur stock marker, talk to some guys u play with and see what kinda ups fit ur style.

The us-5 might be better than the 98, But the Tippmann A-5 beats em both hands down. The us-5 is just a cheaply copied version of the A-5.

Try to buy each part if possible. It might be a bit more expensive, but it's better to have a good mask than the one that comes with the package. Try and read on Pbreview about scott masks and see if it's good for you.
And also, look at the number of reviews for 98C's (2681 / 9.2) and BT4's (28 / 9.6). Which do you think is best?

K I'll buy them seperate. But I can I get a recommendation on the red dot scopes? I want one but not too expensive and what do I need like those weave rails which one do I need? Thanks. I think I might just get that vForce Armor its rated 8.9 and has lots of reviews and I think its fine. I am getting that lapco big shot barrel but what size is good? Thanks again. All this help is much appreciated.

if youre looking for a red dot go to a real firearms store. DON'T BUY ONE AT WALLMART. buy a dovetail mounted red dot so you don't need to buy a weaver rail. im not sure where you live but you can get a decent red dot for $60-80 canadian. But i personally prefer iron sights.
i wouldn't get that mask yes it is cheap but save up a bit more and get a better mask (as that one is not thermal just anti-fog coated) you should buy a really good mask even before that red dot.
i like my pcs 20/20 mask but it's a little expensive. ($70 CDN)
for barrel sizes most reccomend between 12 and 14 inches. big shot barrels are supposed to be really good.
i think i answered your questions. PM me if you want to know more.

it all depends on how much money your going to spend. It sounds like your willing to spend around 250-300 so if i were you I would get a Smart Parts Ion. I have a Model 98(not a custom) and its stock and im not happy with the accuracy. If i shoot at a wall it just goes all over the place. I know i need a new barrel but theres no point in upgrading it since its not a custom. So if you get an ion you have to have HPA which can get pricy, but on actionvillage.com they have a package with an ion and hpa for 300 which is what im getting so i would get that if i were u

A-5 for starter, DO NOT GET an Ion for a starter gun, To all new-comers I strongly recommend either a Tippmann or a Spyder, A-5's are easier to "dress up" then a 98 and I personally prefer it over a 98... so A-5! Us-5's are basically clones of the A-5 made by the makers of Piranha (PMI)

i feel that if you have never played paintball before, you should either rent, or get an under 80usd spyder/pmi. if you love it, then you can buy the a5, and have a cheap ass back up/loaner

custom pro is the way to go. the bts may seem better but also look at later down the road. will you be able to get your money out of it that you put into it? go to ebay shop around. you can get a good used one for $100-$200 w/upgrades

It is cheap because it breaks. Yes, I have seen one, and it is a copy because it is an almost direct copy of a Tippmann A5 on the outside. And dont hand me that MP5 crap, The Tippmann A5 is based off of an MP5, the US-5 is based off of an A5.

^^^what he said
if you're compelled to own your own, get a 98c. whoever said it wasn't accurate, doesn't know accuracy is in the barrel to paintball match, not the gun itself. And almost every stock barrel is made cheaply and to be upgraded.

dont get carl started on the us5... and for a first gun go tippmann they are solid as rocks... i would say 98 its cheaper then an a5 and with the right ups you can have a really nice marker... and dont go with an ion.. so many people have them and have no idea what they are doing with them

The best gun you can get is a 98 Custom with A.C.T!!! The A5 is cool but, the only difference between the two is look's and the cyclone. The 98ACT is the best paintball gun ever made... period!!!!. As far as a BT (BenTippmann) goes... Rip-off!!! I have never used one. Never will!! But go to there web page and they will explain how they stole there ideas from Tippmann! GO 98ACT IF YOU WANT THE MOST RELIABLE, UPGRADEABLE GUN ON THE MARKET!!!!!

Tippmanns have a much better trigger pull than BTs. Whatever you do, don't do what a lot of people do and buy a marker and all kinds of add-ons (super sniper barrel, vortex speed feed, gyro-tracking thermal imaging sight, titanium power tube and fuzzy dice) and stick them on your marker as soon as you take it out of the box. A lot of folks who do this suddenly find themselves with a marker that doesn't work or accessories they don't like or need.
This is what you should do:
- Rent first and try different equipment.
- Read reviews and ask other players what they like/dislike about their equipment.
- Buy the most important piece of equipment first-the mask.
- You only get one set of eyes, protect them the best you can.
- Try on different masks to see what is comfortable.
- Remember that you will spend all your playing time wearing that thing so you want one that is comfortable, doesn't fog up, doesn't interfere with glasses (if worn) and allows you to wear a hat/sweatband/bandanna under it for comfort and keeping the sweat out of your eyes.
- Once you get a marker, play with it in stock condition to get an idea of what you need to do to it so it will suit your playing style.
- The first thing you will probably want to get will be a barrel-although some markers do come with decent stock barrels now (Autocockers and Custom Pros come to mind, but I'm sure there are at least a few other decent stock barrels).
- Once you start modifying your marker, do one mod at a time. That way if one screws up your marker, you'll know exactly where the problem is.
- Keep in mind that some mods do not work with other mods. For instance you can't use a rear velocity adjuster with a low pressure kit on a 98.
- Also keep in mind that if you have some mods, you really don't need other ones. An example would be if you got a Tippmann with the A.C.T. system; since this system prevents chopping, there would be no real need to spend the extra money on a cyclone feed system.

O.K, jerseypaint you got me ! I should of said that for the price you can't go wrong! I know that there is much better guns on the market. But, how can you loose with a 98ACT? It's fairly cheap, reliable, easy to work on, has endless uprade potential, and it's a Tippmann. Not a Knock-off. It makes a great first gun for anyone new to our sport.

i get mad at the mask i got, i paid $15 on sale for it ,
it has major vents/holes on the front by your mouth, and every time i get shot there, pretty much the only place i do get shot, it comes in and cuts my chin up
i got hit total of 8 times sunday in the mask, and my chin still hurts some
