So, I picked up a model 98 today... it has a matrix board in it... but, one half of the grip frame is cracked all the way through and i need some help.

there's the good looking side....
here's where the trouble starts. i need to replace the grip frame some how, but i can't just buy a new shell from tippmann and slap it on there because of the custom work done to get the board in there.
i was thinking of something along the lines of a cage type thing that screwed in where the body screws go... i'm lookin at enos for some ideas maybe after he stops making fun of me for the condition i bought this. any ideas of how to fix it are welcome... and if anyone with the know-how or equipment to fix this and is willing to help me out... that would be great.

Wait, why does it say 98 custom on it, and you said that it is a model 98? Anyways, Can't you just weld so scrap metal around it and bondo?

i have a really nice tig welder and ive tried it and you cant weld 98 bodies, the metals too bad. The only welds that have come out for me wernt very strong. This might sounds ghetto but I would seriosuyl suggest lots and lots of aluminum jb weld, that stuff works wonders

I would suggest making a shield sorta like wrap around grips. Find yourself some sheet metal or bendable metal of sorts and wrap it around the grip frame. Then proceed to cut out where the board is and obvious places that need it. I would guess that you don't have the tools or scrap metal laying around like I do here on a farm so this probably wouldn't work for you, but its worth a try. It would have to be some kinda thin metal to so it doesn't look too bad and you can still get a good grip on it.

I am strangely attracted to that gun. Keep us updated on what you do. My suggestion is JB Weld and Bondo. Do something with those wires as well.

Nice gun man. Maybe you could buy new shells. But do a quick strip mod to them, and only replace the grip sections.

a local highschool should have a mig welder on hand. they would do it for you. but take out the board and other electronics. Epoxy with fiber added is the other way to go.

you cant weld the 98. the reciever halves are cast, so the metal has lots of tiny tiny air bubbles in it. why you try to weld it you explode those bubbles and ruin your weld. even if you do get a bond the metal will be so fatigued it will break easily.
here is my idea.
go down and get some epoxy and fibercloth. you can get it all in one place in a kit like the ones used for patching bathtubs. using layers build onto the reciever half untill you have a good sturdy bond. you can sand it and paint it and it will look good. hell you can even dremel it once its fully cured to make it look like a pistol grip add-on. make sure you drill some holes in the metal for the epoxy to seep into, small holes just to the epoxy can seep in and get a good grip.

Id suggest making a ghetto grip out of metal like everyone else....
I know this sounds stupid but im serious. For now you could use 100 mph tape (Super duct tape) and zipties until you fix this......
