Yes. If you are shooting faster than 300fps (or whatever the fields limit is, some are 280) You are "shooting hot"

It doesnt have to beo ver 300fps.  It just means that you are shooting over the field limit what ever that may be.  Which shouldnt be over 300.

Went to a small place a couple of weeks ago and left after a few hours.  After the field opened they just put a chrono out in the practice area and told everyone to make sure they set their markers below 280.  I saw few to no players actually do it and when I brought that to the attention of a ref, he told me that most folks there are regulars and know what their settings are.  Couldn't believe that reply.

We decided to take off when a friend of mine was hit and immediately got a bruise through 3 layers.  His tac vest, BDU top, and T-shirt.

^^^there is no way to tell the velocity you're shooting at without chronoing...  even with my phantom, which are very consistant, has to be adjusted each time i go paintballing.

that field sucks, don't go back.  go somewhere that knows what they're doing and knows about paintball safety.

Yeah you cant just tell what fps you are shooting at.  I can leave the field one day shooting under, come back another day after cleaning my gun and it will be way off.  I wouldnt go back if I were you.

Don't plan on going back to that field.  I didn't understand the line of reasoning either.  As I'm sure they all do, my A5 changes from morning to afternoon.
