we had a tournament today and some guy filled my tank and bled the entire thing back out cause he did it wrong. so my tank had like a layer of frost on it. i hooked it up to my remote and the wierdest thing happened. when i shot, within a few shots, my entire gun was covered in frost. the part of my barrel that was in my barrel sleeve was icy, my valve screws were iced up, the air line was froze up and my gun was just freezing. also when i shot, little bits of actual snow would come out my velocity screw, barrel, and valve screws. later on it just kinda fixed itself. was my tank just too cold or what?

Most likely wayy to cold... sounds like he over-filled it too... so you were basically just sucking in "Ice', if the problem is gone, don't worry about it, if it don't need fixin... don't fix it.

it sounds like there was pure liquid co2 in the tank. and some times they fill it up, then empty it so the tank is cold so they can fully top it off.  but you should look into an anti-syphon.

what?

Well if he is using a remote, an anti-siphon wouldn't be for you unless your tank was possistioned in a different way.

thats just the thing. i couldn't have been sucking in co2 because my tank was vertical and it would have to have gone all the way through my remote before getting in my gun. but i'm sure you guys are right that it was just way to cold. and i didnt shoot that much out of it so it couldnt have been too full cause it worked after like a half hour. i dunno. it was just wierd.

The remote will act like an anti-syphon.

How was the weather when that happened? And, is it still happening?

...no the REMOTE does not act like an Anti-Siphon in ANY way... the Remote acts like an expansion chamber. Expansion Chamber expands liquid into gas, Anti-Siphon only sucks gas normally and leaves the liquid, little bit of a difference

ya its fine now. the weather was windy and a little chilly, but not cold enough to make that big of a difference i would think. it's not a problem now though. i played my other 5 games with my 98 and it worked fine. just wondering if there's somethin i should avoid in the future though. i dont want to be scrambling for a gun still while my team is already on the field ready to go.

Many places that fill CO2 don't know how to do it correctly. When a tank is empty it should be filled about half full then 1 to 3 ounces should be bled off to chill the tank. Then the fill process should continue to the proper full weight level.

A tank that has not been chilled first, particularly in warm weather, cannot be fully filled because there is pressure generated by the liquid converting to gas inside the warm bottle.

If your tank was not on a scale or is one of the new style bottles that cannot be over filled, it sounds that your tank was over filled. When a tank is virtually full with no gas space, even in a vertical/neck up position it will spit liquid CO2 into your marker for a number of shots.

As the liquid converts to gas inside the marker it chills the marker dramatically forming frost all over everything. With a Tippmann, there is no damage done, but you may find that you are getting very inconsistent velocity until things warm up a bit.

Are you saying that ONLY with Tippmann's there is no damage w\ C02?

No, but there are some markers out there that are damaged when the internals are subjected to liquid CO2. There are also a number of regulators, that players select because they look cool, that are completely screwed up if a slug of liquid makes it into them.

if the tank is positioned below the gun (say vertically on your waist) then the remote definitely acts like an anti siphon. gravity puts gas up, liquid down.

Acts like an anti-siphon in that it delivers gas to the marker with less chance of liquid making it through.
