my friend got a pure energy tank and broke it very soon afterwards. so he just gave it to me for free and said i can have it but i have to fix it. the problem is there is air leaking out of the crack between where the threaded part is and the bottle. i'm not sure what the top part is called but hopefully you guys get the picture. also there is something jingling around in the tank. is this a problem i can fix on my own or should i just send the tank in to PMI?

PMI tanks are easy to rebuild. The two set screws on the top portion of the regulator come out easy when using an allen wrench. Go ahead and take those out. Next you unscrew the top half of the reg from the bottom by twisting it with your hand. Now you are in the spring system. Check for anything loose if that is where the noise is coming from. I forgot if there is a seal on the part that unscrews the two halves. Is that the crack where it is leaking from? Or is it actually right next to the tank itself? If it is by the tank itself, definately call PMI up and ask them what to do. As long as the hydro isn't out of date, they should take it in and fix it for you.

Just remember don't be an idiot and do any of that while it's pressurised.
