Yeah, run at him, that'll take the gun away. These kids have automatics and shotguns, throwing a pencil, a book, and then screaming is not going to help. But they should teach how to disarm a person. But I have to admit, its better than just hiding under the desk.

If they all rush the gunman, the gunman will panic and at least 1 of the kids will got shot.
And, if a gunman walked into a class room with the weapon on his hand, every single kid is going to look at each other and wait for someone to start the massive rush, and none of the kids will step up to start the rush.
I don't think it'll work.

Well, you might lose a few but it's for the greater good. Example, if somebody charged into my driver's ed class, there are about 50 students. 50 students and a male teacher charging one gunman will easily win.

That could be a lot to ask of kids, but in cases where the gunman's goal is to massacer students, I guess I figure that I have a better chance of surviving if he shoots me while I'm charging him, since he'll probably go for center mass, that if he walks up to me on the floor and puts the barrel in my ear.

| At least one kid? its better than doing nothing and having half of them die, plus if you do die you at least die like a hero not someone who got shot hidding. but not dying is still the key here.

hopefully the training they're receiving will make it clear that they all NEED to rush the gunmen and that a lack of disciplin in the matter is just going to lead to unecessary deaths. Although, thinking about it, it takes nuts for a soldier to bayonette charge a guy with a rifle, telling unarmed kids to rush a guy is definatly asking a lot.

Not in all school shootings does the gunman end up killing "half of them"; like recently here in Missouri, where the police got the kid before he killed anyone. Now I would imagine, had some kid(s) rushed him, he would have shot at least 1 of them.

I also think Kimbo should tour American schools (K-12) and teach badass street fighting skills.

I saw this on the news the other night and yea that would get at least 2 of them shot or killed, i think even the arming teachers idea is better then this.

I personally think this is a terrible idea. If I walked into a classroom with a gun, and people charged me I would fire blindly like there was no tomorrow at every one of them. I don't think teaching our kids to sacrifice themselves for the greater good of the people is a good idea. Almost makes me think of them as martyrs.

Five or six seventh-grade kids and a 95-pound art teacher can basically
challenge, bring down and immobilize a 200-pound man with a gun. |
Haha. I'm not really sure if any of this is a great idea. It would depend on the situation. All this talk of gunmen coming into schools can't be good for little kids either.

Just because a guy walks into a class with a gun doesn't mean he's going to start kicking ass. Someone who didn't have any intention to kill any kids might panic and kill all of them if they start stabbing his legs with pencils.

well all i have to say is... its easy to say what you would do when someone pulls a gun on you while you are not in the situation... but if it happens its a whole different story... i think if someone is putting a gun to my head i would pretty much do anything and everything they say, just to try to stay alive

I bet all of the smart kids or kids with futures got a secret memo to run out of the classroom while all of the idiots rush the gunman.
Honestly, whoever thought up this method is stupid. Everyone says they would try and do something heroic, but I promise you when faced with death and armed with nothing, people arent so quick to be brave.
Arming the teachers, while still a bad idea, is smarter than this tactic.

Agreed, why cant teachers and staff try to take control of the
situation. No parent wants to see there kid(s) die, trust me Im a
parent and having to burry my kid would be the worst thing I would ever
go through and I would sacrafice myself for revenge.
Kids should not have to defend them selves in schools from crazy people
with guns, it is up to the school staff and security to take such
actions.
Better security for our schools is I think the only answer to this
sensless types of murders. Stop them at the gates and no one gets hurt.
Trust me, if someone put a gun to your head you would freeze, dont lie
and say you would pull a hero move on them. I think I am fairly tuff
but when I had a gun to my head I did freeze. Fear is a strong emotion
you cannot control sometimes and god forbid any of you go through a
situation like we've seen on the news with all these school killings.

The more I think about it the more I recall everything I have ever learned is contradictory from this.
Working at McDonalds, and every other service style job. If you are getting robbed, do what the person says. It almost always turns out better than fighting back.
Why are we thinking of teaching our kids to attack the gunman?

At school, a "robber" is not typically a robber. They are usually somebody who is crazed and has certain people they plan to kill.
At a service style job, you do what they say because the money or demands has no immediate affect on you. Insurance will cover the losses and everything will work out, but at school, there isn't usually something that is wanted or can be offered except the person's life.
