the propaganda horse hit my high school today dropping a big steamy pile of propaganda, trying to get students to join the canadian army, through the co-op program promising to pay the students, and trying to make us believe working for the army is not as dangourous as we may think it is, which i think is total BS! i feel better now i've ranted.

We took the PSAT Wednesday at my school, and everyone who didn't pay to take it had to take the army aptitude test.

For what I heard, a recruiter gave out the test and was telling everyone that they were too stupid to go to college, so they should join the army.

Haha...

I remember a recruiter (American Army) came to our school last year, and his main point of trying to get us to go into the Army's college program, is that they have "statistically less rape than most college campuses!"

I loled.

wow, i think the US has it way worse then us canucks with the recruiting crap. if someone wants to join the army let them but dont tell people they are too stupid do anything else but fight wars. which is kind of ironic in itself. send 10,000 dumb people to one spot give them guns and tell them to shoot other people. this is how bad things happen.

Recruiters are no different than a college rep. They are doing a job. Whether you agree with their job or not is your choice. Its not propaganda because the military can actually be safe. Just dont do infantry and you'll be a lot safer.

STOcocker, we did the same thing. They loaded all of the students taking the ASVAB in the cafeteria, but students taking the PSAT/NMSQT were given quiet classrooms.

i think its different with the army, most of the kids recruited are going to be foot soldiers, or airborne. college reps are trying to get you to go to there school and earn a degree.(mainly just give them your money to go to school) and recruiters are getting you to sign up for what i think is just about the most dangerous thing you can do. and the way its starting to look, its only gunna get worse.

The Armed Services kept calling annoying me once so I told em I was a homosexual. Then they found out I wasn't and called me and demanded an explanation.

Uhhh.. You're more likely to die when you're being shot at then when you're walking to Starbucks. And Kristopher, i've never had college recruiters hold the Taco Bell drive through up because they wont leave because they're too busy handing me stuff through the window trying to get me to join the Marines, even after I told him I had no interest and I was going to college next year.

There was actually a Marine Corps recruiter who got his tail in a sling around here.

When they came to administer the ASVAB, the rule was that there was to be NO solicitation for recruitment. This guy gave us business cards, and asked us to fill out 'more information' requests.

A few months later, the Marines came to the school looking for me and a few other friends. It was a different guy, and I asked what had happened to the first one, and they told me that he got nailed for soliciting in schools during the ASVAB.

Seriously, thats just wrong. Sure, The Canadian Army dosn't see as much "action" as ours does(I know they're in the Middle East right now, but look back on history) but you are still getting shot at, you're still killing somebody. Dont say crap like that.

Oh, and by the way Thor, Canada never burned down the White House.

Right you are, "canada" never burnt down the white house, and for that fact the whitehouse never burned down. the interrior of the whitehouse was set on fire during the british invasions, but it was never technically burnt down....wikipedia is a great place.

Kristopher, there are many differences between military recruiters and college recruiters but I get what you are saying.

However, Military Recruiters want your body (not sexually) and will offer you big ol' signing bonus's.

College recruiters want your money, and they don't offer you anything money wise unless you apply for a scholarship or are good at sports.

Both need to make a quota in order to keep going. Both want you to go their way so they will try to pursuade you. If the military isn't for you then fine, nobody is forcing you to join. I am friends with the Marine Recruiter for my town but he never got me to join because he knew it wasn't something I wanted. If you lay down the law and get on their level, they will leave you alone. You just have to be respectfull, it is their job.

Seriously, I dunno, but Ive worked with some Canadian military...I dont know what it is...maybe just the accents, but most of them came across as being seriously...**edited**. They didnt try to hit on me or anything, but they had such high-pitched voices and stuff...they sounded like **edited** people. But Ken was pretty kewl.

At any rate...the military is far less dangerous than say...crabbing on a boat in Alaska or being on the flight line. Seriously, the military is far safer than many, many jobs out there.

Yeah, I know about the british thing...but we still carry on the traditions and stuff this side of the pond....that's why we still have a Governor General and the queen is on our cash.

And I dunno about the states, but i think it's a terrific idea for canadian recruiters to go out there and get some people.

Guys my age(21) are way too effeminate and sensitive these days...why the PC-ness alone makes you want to puke. I say we inject a little machoism into our failing society.

I guess alot of them are afraid to get dirty or put down the pot-pot long enough to do anything meaningful with they're useless lives...
