I've got two friends that worked at EA (one = hot chick) this summer doing testing. They did some of the testing on that NBA 07 game that is getting EA in tons of crap. Essentially, the game sucks. They ignored the testers to ship on time, and left bugs all over the game. Also, apparently game testing blows.

If they want to know where you're playing from, there should just be a field to select your country in the options menu. Then they should explain that the game was partially supported by in-game advertisements that are part of the city.

If they are afraid of dishonesty from the players, then they should have it so that US servers display US ads and German servers display German ads.

But forcefully taking and recording the IP so that one can play is just sketchy. Putting the warning inside the box, when it would be too late to return the product so the buyer would play anyway, just makes it more suspicious.

My ex's brother used to work for EA but left them for Ubisoft. I give him major props.

i saw that i think it's just wrong. why does it matter what advertisement you get. i mean like from where. cause the owners of the game would just complain about advertisement. i wouldnt care where its from i would only care if there or wasnt advertisment.

i dont really care if they put adverts in the game, but if pepsi or viagra or whoever is paying to put there logo in the game then make the game cheaper, charge 40$ instead of 50 or 60$ whatever it may be. as for the spyware, it doesnt really bother me i have nothing to hide, i always fill out there surveys after i install the game, and im sure spybot will pick it up and delete it so it shouldn't be there for too long

Theres tons of in game advertising.  Just look at Splinter Cell and Snake Eater.  I don't like the whole thing about them logging your IP though.  I think they should just require you to register the game and give your country at the most for your location.
