I have a new custom pro. when you hook the tank up without cocking it, it doesn't leak. Pull the cocking pin back, still no leak. But fire a few shots and you can hear a leak only if you put your ear to the gun. I took the halves off, and screwed in the tank to see if maybe I could pinpoint the leak, but of course it doesn't leak until after you pull the trigger, of which of course I can't do while the halves are apart. The only internal mod I have done is the tippmann brand x-chamber and polished the internals with steel wool and mothers brand polish. If I had to pinpoint the leak, I would say around the valve assembly, but not around the CO2 entry port, those threads are sealed. This only happends after you fire a few shots. It's not enough of a leak to really have me worried. But I would like to know why it is doing this. Anybody have any ideas?

Put some oil down the asa and then air up the gun, do this everytime you screw in a tank for awhile. You might have gotten some shavings in the valve that is causeing a seal to not seat right.
Also, you should not air up the gun while it is dissassembled, it is VERY dangerous.

What is the ASA? if you mean put oil in the airhole where the tank attaches, wouldn't it have a long way to travel before it gets to the valve? (I have an expansion chamber) If I had shavings in the valve you would also think that it would leak all the time, instead of only after i have fired it a few times. Thanks for your help though.

ok, gun seems to leak all the time now, just a tiny bit, only audible if you put your ear up to it, forget what I said above. I'm assuming its going to be my valve assembly. I'll try to re-oil everything and check the threads from the tank to it.

ok, I pinpointed the source of the leak, its coming from the front seal of the valve assemble, ie the last seal before exiting the gun. I super lubed up the assembly and injected oil in the assembly through the top of the expansion chamber. It's such a small tiny leak, i'm going to have to go with the metal shaving theory. Hopefully it will work its way sealed shut again. I'm not going to worry about it anymore unless it gets audibly louder.

Or you could dissassemble it down to the valve, locate the source of the problem, and fix it.

The manual suggests not doing this, also it doesn't show how to get it apart.

The manual probably would recommend that you not install the expansion chamber yourself also. Go to (click this link):
Marker Trouble? Read Maintenance Archive
The sixteenth post is mine with a complete explanation, with pictures, on how to take the power valve apart. It is easy and straight forward and will let you actually see where the leak may occur.
Now, Monk has been around for a long time and his advise is always well thought out...and I also know that Tippmann says not to do it, but, sincerely, I see no danger in airing up the power valve with the marker open. Certainly I can sit and postulate as to possible failure modes that could be hazardous, but I can truly see no more danger in doing this than one would encounter just firing the marker or installing Macroline.
Follow normal safety procedures for working on any equipment...such as eye protection (your paintball goggles work well for this). If you have installed an expansion chamber, aired it up and nothing exploded, you probably have the competence to air the power valve while it is lying there bolted to the right side shell.
Be sure to "un-air" the system before beginning repairs.

Hey man, Im just trying to keep up with your advice lol. Thanks though. I just dont trust a thin peice of plastic keeping me from 800 psi.
Dissassembling the valve isnt all that hard if you follow Bruce's steps. Just dont loose the little retainer ring, its a pain to find on a floor. Plus you'll be saving yourself alot of money in tank fills or a repair bill.
Goodluck.

my valve looks totally different than yours. mine is much bigger/longer and has a hollow shank on the front/barrell end that the bolt slides on. I would bet a small sum of money that I probably have crap wedged in the mating surfaces that makes it leak. it's not a super big leak, i might give it a few hundred balls to see if it clears it self before i try to rip into it.

Ghostcat,
It has SUDDENLY become apparent that you have NEVER EVEN LOOKED at the manual for your marker. The power valve (that silver colored metal thingamabob that I just told you how to take apart) IS INSIDE THE POWER TUBE (that black plastic whatchamacallit with the hollow tube on the front on which the front bolt slides). It is extreme difficult to not get sarcastic at this point.
I take back what I said before about your possibly haven enough mechanical aptitude to work on your marker. DO NOT TOUCH IT. DO NOT LOAD IT. DO NOT AIR IT UP OR FIRE IT before you go find an experienced mechanic who can read the manual and explain the schematic to you. I am surprised that you haven't put your eye out with a paintball. You probably run with scissors too!
You SHOULD be embarrassed, but you will likely just complain that I'm being mean to you. GOOD GRIEF Charlie Brown!!!!

Your right, its a good thing i'm properly educated on how to suture myself up and do minor surgery if i should happen to blow myself up, mind you i don't lose my eyesight. So your saying the round silver thingy is inside the big round plastic thingy, and i'll have to use proper precision tools like a ball point pen cap and tube to open it up? I don't think you're mean. I just had a brain slip and realized that after I posted. Actually there is an error i my manual, it doesn't include the new schematics for the ACT technology

Any schematic from the Pro-Lite to the A-5 would show essentially the same configuration of the power valve inside the power tube. Doesn't have to be ACT. Your manual had no schematic of any version of Tippmann markers in it?

Hang in there buddy, I've had my share of valve tear-down problems! But
once you get it, you got it for good! Listen to Bruce, he know's
his stuff. I used his explaination a long time ago when I first took
mine apart.

my manual has every diagram it it except the ACT components. Believe me, I have gone through my manual completely before I even fired my gun. Manuals are good for looking at drawings of parts. But they don't tell you how to disasemble something properly. I'm sure with a little bit of time and tinkering I could have probably figured every thing out on my own. But to save myself some time and possibly damaging my gun i'm asking questions in here. Thats why us morons post simple questions you gearheads can answer, even further, provide step by step instructions with pictures so we can see and further understand ourselves (as you have done). I appreciate the help you're giving me, with or without the sarcasm. This is like my 13th post, so you can see i'm a newb to this forum, and gun. I deal with peoples crap on a daily basis and I can deal with yours. But for future reference be a little nicer to the new people.

Whether a diagram shows the ACT system or not, the power valve and the power are the same and clearly displayed.
