I'm reading the "Longest Walk", right now by Stephen King. I'm hooked on it.

I've enjoyed "The Stranger" but my favorite would probaly be "Tommyknockers" by King.

I really love short stories. I had to read one for English class I wasn't expecting to really like but I did. The Bear by Faulkner. I was informed it was actually an excerpt from one of his full length novels though.

either angels and demons or digital fortress

I never read Angels and Demons, but I did read Digital Fortress and Da Vinci Code.

I was very underwhelmed with the writing in both.  It was a struggle for me to finish Digital Fortress because I was groaning too much.

For that general category of novel I far prefer Nelson DeMille.  Great stuff.

Anything by Mitch Albom (The Five People You Meet in Heaven, Tuesdays with Morrie). They are relatively short, easy to read, but with good meaning behind them. I might now be convinced to read Catcher in the Rye.

In english, we turned in our independent reading projects and this one girl read Black Like Me she had come in late for class. We had already talked about our books and so we were already continuing with class. Well, she raises her hand and starts talking about her book. She said it was really good and that everyone should read it. Everyone was caught off guard and wasn't sure what she was talking. The teacher was like "She missed the book conversation so she wants to share what she thought about the book." So we continue with class and she raises her hand again in like 20 seconds. She starts talking about how it has changed her life saying how God is all around us and we should be going to church. The teacher started to get choked up and has a tear or two form. She also said that the blue note came to her at her doorstep. Supposedly the book had something in it where a blue note is brought to the door and it is Jesus Christ. She started saying Jesus Christ came and saved me. The teacher asked her if she wanted to go out in the hall with a tissue because she looked like she was going to cry. She said yes at first, but then insisted not to. So we try to continue with class. In another 20 seconds she just goes ahead without raising her hand and says "I'm addicted...I'm addicted to drugs." The teacher offers to talk about it after class and so the girl says yes to talk about it. This whole time when she started talking, her legs were shaking and she sounded like she was kinda scared where her voice wasn't smooth but jumpish. So we try to continue and the teacher was hurrying to get stuff for us to pass out. Then all of a sudden the girl says, "I'm addicted to drugs because I don't believe my friends are true friends and they are just pretending to be." The teacher finally gets the stuff and gives it to us to pass out, she also tells us to read on, but we are all nervous that we are just sitting there. The teacher takes her out of the class and they are out in the hall for awhile and I didn't see her for the rest of the day.

It was a very interesting class epecially because I couldn't concentrate anymore. I'm not sure what was going on with her. I wasn't sure if this all really happened or if she was on withdrawal of drugs.

Hell yes I am.

I like a great many of the books listed here, but not so much The Haunted. Couldn't get into it. Black Like Me was an interesting read. Taking medication to change your skin tone and then tour the deep South as a black man... that takes sack.

Fahrenheit 451 was great. The Call of the Wild was short but nice, and very visceral. Imajica, by Clive Barker is one of my all time favorites. It's a love it or hate it book though.

Lately I've just been reading my magic books, getting back into sleight of hand and tricks. Magic is very zen for me.
