Subject: BIG Nebraska airsoft event in Apr 07

Just got the e-mailed approval from the Nebraska National Guard that we can use the Mead Training area (3000 acres) for a large airsoft event in the spring. My re-enactment groups already use the site.

The site was an old ordanance plant during WW2, as well as a deactivated Titan/NIKE site from the later 60's.

We have access to all the site, the 4 silos, the two factory buildings, the underground tunnels connecting the silos, the bunkers, trenches, outbuildings etc. Should be an absolute blast.

There will be safety constraints such as helmets in the buildings, boots on site, safety trained personnel to clear weapons, standard training area SOP's etc.

Will draw up a urban war scenario over winter and see where we go. Looking at an initial 1 day operation, later in year maybe an overnight 24 hour saturation event.

Anyone in area interested let me know, we can arrange for "rentals" of mid AEG's.

Safety rules and requirements: as of 10Nov06

Following are personal equipment requirements:

Full seal paintball style goggles or proffesional grade balistic goggles (no shooting glasses or wallyworld styled minigoggles) Googles will go on once cleared of range control/parking area and will remain on till return to parking area. NO removal of goggles, bring appropiate cleaning/defogging rags and fluid and start practicing flip up, head down quick wipe method of cleaning/de-fogging.

Any NVS (night vision) will be binocular and will have same rules as goggles. You put them on in parking area and remove upon return to parking area. Malfunction of NVS will be verified and a total field safety hold will be called till regular goggles are put on.

Long pants and shirt- NO short sleeves

Full ankle boots, no low cut below ankle foot wear allowed on site.

Helmet required for entry into buildings, reg mil issue or any abs/sim plastic simulation with chinstrap. (a lot of protrusions in buildings head injury an issue) any individuals in buildings without helmet will be imediately escorted off property, NO warnings.

Picture ID in around the neck ID holder, one game ID one div license or recognized form of picture ID can be stuffed into shirt (age and participant verifacation. Must be shown to any MP or uniformed military personnel on demand.

Weapon Requirements:

400fps limit....initially (issues with safety and NG unfamiliar with Airsoft, probably can get it raised for DSR's after initial event)

.20/.23/.25gr white BB's only, no black, colored or tracers, they may insist on biodegradeable waiting on thier call on that.

20 foot day 30 foot nigh Safety range will be inforced, there will be NG/RES "umpires/observers" on site and immediate removal from site on violation.

Barrel sock worn at all times that gun is NOT in play, if you are not live and in the game, you will barrel sock muzzle.

Magazines removed if not live, weapons on safe, weapons carried muzzle down.

A safety range will be established for test firing all weapons. NO discharging of weapons loaded or unloaded in parking or camping areas.

Upon end of game all weapons will be cleared, magazines out, fired three times to clear hop-ups, barrel sock on, batterys removed, gas discharged, then cleared to leave site. (standard range control safety for real firearms modified for our sport.)

Waiver: A waiver is being drawn up by NG legal based on the GOAA waiver to include the NG and site. Will advise.

18 or older to play verified by picture ID

Will begin preregistration Jan 3rd, once training area NG/Res training dates are locked in and we can fit into schedule.

For those interested in coming a few things.

Pricing will be minimal, just to cover base expenses,
we will have recharging available on site, BB's for sale and hopefully some vendors. Just starting initial planning phase.

On a safety note, full seal goggles will be required (no shooting glasses) a military styled helmet (real or good plastic imatation) if you plan on entering buildings, supportive boots.

There will be a uniform requirement for the sides airsoft does not use the armtape method. Green for one side, desert/tan for other.

We will be on a military reservation so plan accordingly.

That does sound like a good time, unfortunatly my best airsoft gun is an electric pistol we're most people will have the co2 powered ones that blow heads off. If I went I'd go buy a co2 powered colt 1911 replica but a i don't think they make those and b I so don't have the money

If anyone from out of state decides to show up:

I know it's spelled Norfolk, but it's pronounced nor-fork.  Don't ask me why.  But if you go to Norfolk, and pronounce it wrong, you might get yourself shot.

And Kearney.  Think car + knee.  Not keer-knee.  People from Minnesota in particular seem to have a problem with that one.

Also, if you're driving through Western Nebraska, or through South Omaha, hold your breath.

Just go to Canfield's.  They have a fairly large stock of military surplus, and their prices are fairly reasonable.  Otherwise, try to find some deals online.

I'll definitely keep an eye on the details. Airsoft would be new to me, but Nebraska isn't that far of a trip.

South o is more like dont stare and keep your doors locked. I once had to
fill up my tank on my car and was down there and i got so many bad
looks i just kept my door open and my p ball gun close. Also in western
nebraska there is the town called ogalala forgive spelling but anyways
there is this resteraunt called juny mays once again forgive spelling but
they make a good home style breakfast.

to bring airsoft across the border... just hide it in your pooster.

Posted By: oldsoldier
Date Posted: 07 November 2006 at 8:23pm
As of last check, to cross border, weapon must be declared, and disassembled, I would just seperate upper and lower reciever, and have battery in differant container. I used to cross with PB gauns, disassembled, and air source seperate from system in secured container. Always bought PB's in country, never tried to cross with "ammo", differant set of rules and interpatation.

Buy your BB's in states.

Jeez. I almost got the go-ahead, but the 1 day thing changed minds. It needs to be a flat-out all weekend event, like in paintball scenarios.

Don't worry yet, most of the folks I have talked to want a 24 hour saturation event. And Yes, a saturation event is 24 FULL hours, no midnight break, night opns all night. I will pick a weekend closest to full moon if that is the way we go.

Noon to noon, bring a ruck or day pack, chow is going to be where you have time, wherever.

Once up and movin planning on recon and picture trip. Will get a website up asap.

Planning on a 12/24 hour saturation event, military vs insurgent w/neutral? civilian, free reign mission assignment based on situations, point system with points awarded based on accomplished scenario goals not missions all the time.

MRE's aren't too bad, depending on what you get.  I've tried one before, and it was decent.

Otherwise, at some sporting goods stores, they have bags of dehydrated soup.  You just boil water, and pour it straight into the bag.  I could bring a Sterno, or just go cheap and bring a Pepsi-can stove.

Ranger rations: in a zip lock baggie, instant rice, bullion cube (beef or chicken), or tomato cup of soup, and beef jerky. Just add boiling water, instant rice or soup. We carried it a lot, light easy to fix, kinda like the old LRRP rations of old.

Breakfast: in another zip lock, just a few packs of instant oatmeal, grits, cream of wheat, whatever, raisans, and some brown sugar and salt, again just add boiling water, mash around and eat.

Freezer bags work best.

I lived in Hutchinson Kansas for a little while.  I've made the drive from Ohio out that way a couple of times.  It's a pretty good drive, but if I can, I just might do it.  If anyone needs to catch a ride out of Ohio, maybe I can help.  I'll have to see how it goes... Maybe I can drag Hway's ass out there with me.  I have a p90 he can use.

Yeah, Too bad I'm going to miss it, it sounds like it would be amazing. (As my friend says "Its gonna be... AMAAAzing")

Perhaps in another year or two, you (OS) and i can pressure them into allowing a continuious 48 hour game. No official rests, breaks or anything. Just hauling <butt> for 48 hours straight.

It's be a challenge, and very hard to set up and ref, but I'd totally be up for it.
