Well now that the euphoria is settled in, and America wakes up to the new direction my question is: Other than the we confirm that we hate Bush, what exactly is the Democrat agenda or plan.

Is it a plan of blocking any progress on issues, divert atttention onto thier 08 agenda, exactly what was this elections foundation and what direction does it lead.

And to say to put democrats back in power, how do we address a democrat president in 08 with a democrat majority in the house and senate. Is the issue of single party leadership a wrong that the Democrats found so offensive? Or was it only offensive and a wrong if it is not them?

I am with Rush, America got what it deserved, and will just plan on my retirement in Alaska, that is if the tax laws do not change, and I am considered rich, and over taxed to support those who have not made a commitment to self and responsibility, and elect the party that believes socialism is the way of the future.

Just in all the politicing, I am missing what the platforms actually were. I understand the conservative issues, personal responsibility, a sense of morality on family, a war on those who wish to see America destroyed. I understand the upswing in the negative reporting prior to the election, I understand that we are up to our armpits in alligators, with pockets full of meat.

But an agenda of payback, witch hunts, and political gamesmanship will result in what for the next two years.

The Rush comment is basically that the average American had no true issue to follow and went strictly on a polarized "herd" mentality. And deserve what they will have to endure.

I would agree with Rush also
I believe the only reason my state went dem. for the first time in many years is because some people are a lot like cattle when it came to this vote... They weren't really happy with the way things went and the Democrats played that hand (saying they were not happy with the way things have been run also) So thats the way people voted its stupid most people know nothing about the person they are voting on except for what the see on the t.v. adds. So the Democrats are in power and they are not going to change anything, because the Democratic party is split

I have listened to Rush for a very long time and in the 80s he was fine... he has fallen off the deep end now though.

As for his comment... it is what collective America deserves.   It is also what collective America wants currently.

Its not what I want, but that is the nature of our voting system.

Honestly I would be fine with the Democrats having control if they had a plan something anything. They don't even seem like a party anymore. I hate the whole lesser of two evils crap, I know sometimes it seems like that but if you feel that way you don't have to vote. Seriously I hate it when people tell me that they voted for whoever because they didn't like the guy he was going up against

Why do people keep saying that the Democrats don't have a plan?  The papers are full of Pelosi's 100-hour plan, with a good amount of detail.

My guess is that the mean the war or something.  Naturally we assume that the shift in control is a direct result of the war, the economy, what have you.  Meh, regardless I'm sure both parties have plans, I'm just curious as to how everything will pan out.

I'm still shaking my head here in Lucas County in the (formerly) great state of Ohio.  The Democrat running for Lucas County Auditor has had her car repossesed and wages garnished for debts that should could not pay.  She can't balance her checkbook, yet she was voted in over the Republican to be in charge of a $140m budget.  That's just spiteful.  We will reap what we (not me) sowed here in Lucas County and Ohio.

So, congrats Dems, you got what you wanted.  Now do something with it.  You don't have Bush, the Senate or the House now to blame for your failings.  Let's see what you've got...

[Deleted second part, thought I was in another thread]

Hating Bush is plan enough for me and won my vote.

I cross bridges when I come to them. I consider myself an independent libertarian, my vote goes to whoever will screw my rights over less.

I swung republican during the Clinton years due to all the nonsense aimed at restricting the internet. The communications decency act, tempest, encryption escrows, etc. I disliked Bush for his environmental views before 9/11, but I was willing to forgive that after. I was all for him when we went to Afghanistan, the goal was to capture Bin Laden and only an idiot wouldnt be for that.

But Iraq is nonsense, it was a political fake-out. And when dubya and his rubber-stamp congress starting raping my rights, my vote was absolutely going Democrat.

If they start screwing rights over, my vote will go right back Republican. But frankly, I dont see how they could possibly do anything worse than what shrub has done so far.

Thats idiotic. Do you use your brain or is it just there to keep your head weighed down? Voting for someone because you hate the incumbent is absolutely a practical reason for voting. If you dont get the bum out, the bum will just stay there and continue doing what you dont agree with. Granted, the new guy could be just as bad, but at least you can say you tried, and vote for another new guy next term.

I think they think they have no plan because unlike the republicans in 1994 the entire party doesn't have one set plan that they all boldly support. It seems like they want a highly obayed central leadership for parties.

Thanks Clark, I checked out that plan. Pretty good stuff for the first 100 hours. Stuff that I like:
-Enact all recommendations of 9/11 commission
- Cut interest on student loans in half
-Expand stem cell research

Well. My state is the most liberal in the union. They are so liberal they voted Kennedy (a murderer) into his 8th term. Voted for a man who defended rapists and cop killers to become governor.

So for me. Its no suprise

I wonder what the Dims will do about gas prices? With the GOP out of power they can no longer manulipate the price Will the Dems raise my taxes(they love to do that ).
On a serious note I am worried about the direction we take on the war on terror. I wonder if the enemy will take yesterdays election results as a signal that America is Weak, tired and beaten.

I just see a vendetta 2 years, and hopefully an eye opener for many whose dreams will be dashed by the get back at republicans over any true agenda of consequence.

Look out for your financial rights, over taxation, growing government, back to the dumping millions on war on drugs and the perputual education debates of our failing public school systems (dems had it for 40 years before 94, same problems, nothing truely solved, nor will be).

I really do not see solving the problems as a political highlight, for if solved the Dems will have no issues to run on and several prominant individuals will be out of jobs (Jesse and crew for example).

Already the impeachment flags are flying, where two years from now thier nightmare is over anyway, just payback, and political satisfaction.

Drive on folks, you will get what you paid for with your vote, as the terrorists of the world also rejoice in your win.

Or maybe they'll see it as the arrogant imperialists leaving.
Or maybe they'll just ignore it altogether, and do what they've always done, rely on blind faith. (Kinda like a lot of people here...)

The sad thing is fiscal conservatives like me have no one to vote for.

The republican party has pretty much turned into a group of religous radicals, and the liberals are, well, liberal.

1. Let's face it, BOTH parties have been making for larger government.
2. War on drugs, wait, wasn't this a Conservative platform? And always has been? Sure, some democrats jumped on the bandwagon awhile ago, but most liberals have always known the War on Drugs is Bullhockey, and have been saying so since it started.
3. So, somehow the democrats will be able to do worse than NCLB? Short of going around and sucker-punching every teacher in the nation, you can't really do worse.

Concur.

I favor fiscal responsibility.  The records of both parties are mixed at best on this point, but the current administration is an abomination in terms of fiscal responsibility, so I would have to favor a change simply on the theory that it can't get any worse than this.

According to Obama, the Democrats don't plan to impeach Bush. He said that they will work with Bush in order to get stuff done in the government.

I have a feeling that they will work with Bush and make some changes, but they will wait until 2008 to do anything major.

Um, that's like telling someone to go to Canada if they don't believe something. Honestly, these political threads are pretty overwhelming. There's been a ton in the past week. I know it's all sudden with elections and everything, but there has to be a limit. It's just, enough. We don't need 5 threads complainging and debating what plans democrats have, and what republicans think about the election. Try to spread yourself out over the span of a week instead of just flooding the forum with a political thread every 10 minutes.

No, not really. Not saying leave the forum, just go to a different thread....and stop complaining....Plus, the only annoyance you should get out of these threads is seeing the titles on the front page....If you don't want to read someone's ranting, don't click the damn thread.
