Yes it can cause damage. It's not always permanent, but if the truama is bad enough the testicle might need to be removed. Firing on one cylinder works fine though.

Yeah, firing on one cylinder is fine. My buddy fell out of a tree stand a couple of years ago, somehow caught his scrotum on the side, ripped it open, and lost a nut....doc says he should be able to have kids....

Many people are dumb. If you are going to play any contact sport, you HAVE to protect the baby makers. I can't tell you how many times my cup saved me when I got hit there by a lacrosse ball. |

The same thing kinda happened at a kid at my school. He jumped a fence and it snagged one ripped out and was hanging from the fence. I think at that point i'd pass out permantly I also know someone with only 1 because his other one ruptured or something idk and he also has 3 nipples. |

About not wearing one in football: It doesn't really fit between the thigh pads so I'd rather take my chances... The pads come together and protect it enough. The only time i got hit was when i tackled a kid from behind and he took a step foward and i caught his other leg on the back swing.
