Just seeing who here likes the band Rammstein?
If you do, what's your favorite song?
Mine is either "Rosenrot" or "Morgenstern."

^^^ do not say ew, if you've judged them on du hast which was their worst song, nothing angers me more than a person that doesn't aprriciate Rammstein becuase they heard that song. Actually there is something, people that like them becuase of that song.
Wo Bist Du, I've never heard a more moving song, plus around the time Rosenrot came out my cousin passed away and the title means Where are you, so I'm always reminded of her when I hear it.

I agree that Wo Bist Du is an excellent song.
I need to learn German, because I only know what bits and pieces of their songs mean.
All I know is that their music is better than just about anything I've heard come out of America recently.

Now I don't agree with that, they're defineately a good band but better than anything that's come out of America recently? Go download only one by yellowcard. But Tae what songs have you listened to to come up with that conclusion? They have very good music, but if you listened to Du Hast and based your opinion on that then you need to listen to some more songs before you make that decision.

Oh damn... Please do not mention Yellowcard. Listening to that band gives me an odd urge to inflict bodily harm on myself, and I don't know why. I listened to them and thought they would be decent, but was disappointed after a couple of songs.

Ok then. GOD I HATE DU HAST. Just thinking about it is making me very angry. It's really their worst song and it's the song that everyone bases all of their opinions on. They either hate them or love them based on it.

I think one of the most artistically sound bands out there right now is Streetlight Manifesto, along with Thomas Kalnoky's pet project, The Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution.
Certainly better overall than Rammstein.

I do not know anything specific. I have listened to them. I do not like them, and the collective society of people who know and understand music realize they are just not that good.
They are the modern equivalent to KISS. Cool looking show, lots of neat gimmicks, but not a whole lot of talent to back it up.

I would also like to know what songs you've heard by Rammstein TKD.
I've only heard a few songs by Streetlight Manifesto, but I wasn't a big fan.
Du Hast (as Galm is saying) is a terrible song, but it's probably the most heard of their music.
Listen to the songs "Amerika," "Rosenrot," and "Wo Bist Du" if you want some pretty good songs.
The video for Rosenrot is enough to make me love the band. The video is crazy awesome.

That is not really how it works.
Some music is just simply better than others.

TKD, I think I see the point that you're making now.
The only problem is that you have nothing to measure by. The only way that you could judge quality of music is if you have a common standard, which is why opinion is largely the basis for what is or is not good music.
You could say, "Rammstein doesn't sound harmonic," or, "Rammstein doesn't keep in tempo throughout the song," and that would make them suck.
Unfortunately for you in this discussion, I highly doubt that you have anything to say about any technical musical problems that Rammstein has... So it's mostly based on opinion.

Can I suggest that perhaps something can be objectively good or bad (quality-wise), but that this is independent of personal preference?
I will readily admit that Rammstein is rather repetitive, formulaic, and simplistic. So is Britney Spears (back when she actually made music instead of poor life decisions).
Yet I thoroughly enjoy both.
I acknowledge that James Joyce is a superb writer, yet I cannot abide by his work.
Neither means that I do or do not have "taste". I merely like things independently of their objective qualifications.

Good music is relative, folks. It is in the ear of the beholder.
Go with what YOU like, and fon't judge other peoples tastes. Synapses fire differently in everyones brain. I like punk, but I am not going to bash someone who likes country, that's just their taste.
Besides, if everyone judged bands like Tae did, people would still think The Ramones suck.
Let's cut the ignorance.

The whole Rosenrot album sucks.
1) Mutter
2) Sehnsucht
3) Reise, Reise
4) Herzeleid
5) Rosenrot
If you prefer anything from Rosenrot over almost anything from one of the other albums... Well, it's all "opinion" I guess.
Adios off of Mutter is my favourite Rammstein song.
For the record, never seen them in concert, it's all about the music for me.
