So heres the premise. If you could get a free trip to anywhere in the world, where would it be, and why?
I'd choose Ibiza, Spain. It sounds and looks like such a blast, my goal is to go there at some point in my life.
For example:
"Priviledge (a club) bills itself as the world's largest nightclub with a capacity of 10,000. It is situated near San Rafael, Ibiza and is home to Manumission, probably the island's most famous nightclub. Originally called Ku, the club first began life as a restaurant in the 1970's. The main room is aircraft-hangar size with a 25-meter high roof, and a swimming pool."

Isn't that basically just Club Med? Why travel all that way to go to the same thing we have here...
If you are going on a once-in-a-lifetime trip, at least make it something really really different.
I choose outer space.

Honestly... When's the last time you've been to a third world, or in the slums of a city? How much time did you spend there actualy interacting with the people?
Maybe 10% of the general populous of run down countries and cities are beggers. Dont generalize in such a ignorent fashion. In New York and Chicago you would see more beggars than you would in the most run down parts of Mexico.
Cultural differences are wonders, on mission trips, the people that we helped would have nothing in their possesion, but if you mentioned likeing their shirt they would give it to you off their back.

Well many people from my church went to some third world country and when they came back all they talked about is how everyone is asking for stuff from them because they knew that they were American. And when you go to big cities there are a few beggars on the corners, when I went to San Fransisco there was homeless people on every corner but they all had these things that they would do for money instead of just sitting there with a sign

Pan Handlers, they stage acts for cash... you'd be surprised at the amount that arn't actualy homeless.
And I have no idea where your church went... I've never experianced that behavior myself. Not to say that in all of the countries people dont behave that way, i'm sure it is to the contrary.
All I am saying is, dont generalize third world countries in the fashion you did, because for the most part our own cities are worse, as far as begging is concerned.
As Rambino said, traveling abroad to some of these places can be quite enlightening.

Ya Im sure a lot of those guys who were out there were not homeless because they were bringing in a ton of money, I just wasn't sure what to call them. And for the third world country I want to say it was somewhere in South America. And yes it would be enlightening but I feel like if you are going to travel some place travel somewhere fun. I feel like if I went to a third world country I would just come home and feel like a complete ass for having everything that I have. When I went to Germany I had a blast and if I had a chance to go back there I would do it in a heart beat it was an amazing time people are very friendly there. I just feel like if you are going to spend all that money go somewhere to have fun and learn about a different culture, I guess you could do the same in a third world country but I guess its just not my cup of tea

I would also push Africa and Asia for fun. Virtually every single top-top-top rated hotel and resort in the world is in the "third world". The service is better, the food is better, the accomodations are better, and all the fun stuff is so much more affordable. Shopping, safaris, scuba diving, hunting, hiking, gambling, eating, drinking - whatever you like to do, you can do it better and cheaper.
One week at a medium hotel quality hotel in Germany will buy you a week of fabulous in Africa or Asia, including all your activities, food, and shopping.
And, of course, you are actually going someplace different. The differences between Germany and the US are negligible compared to most of the rest of the world.

I agree with that you can probably have a great time in pretty much any country you go to except probably Iraq, Iran, and Saudi Arabia. I feel like for me its more of a preference and my preference would be to go to a European country, like when I went to Germany I also went to France and Austria. France was ok but the people were jerks and Austria was a blast because the people were great and the Alps were amazing. I myself would like to stay away from most parts of Africa because it seems like every other day they are in a civil war.

Now this is certainly true - when travelling in poorer countries you have to plan more carefully. I have seen the business end an AK-47 up close and personal more times than I like to remember.
But with a little care (and malaria shots) it can be an amazing experience.
Another place I want to go: wherever sporx gets her avatar pics from.

I'd hardly say that the largest nightclub in the world is essentially clubmed.
I've been to an all inclusive in Mexico, and I had a blast, and thats nothing compared to what Ibiza is like. It's essentially the birthplace of good trance. If I'm going for overall fun, something like that would deffinitly be good.
Europe is still very, very high on my list of places to go.

Exactly. If you live somewhere where drinking in public is illegal, then go somewhere where its legal, its new and novel to you, and you'll take advantage of it most likely. For a local, its just the norm, not that amazing, but the tourist draw is amazing.
