So I know there are alot of young drivers on this forum, and the bad drivers thread got me thinking.

How many of you do/ have drifted, e-braked, etc?

I was watching tv yesterday with the gf, and someone was spinning around in reverse, then did an ebrake, and thought it was the most amazing thing ever.
I thought it was kind of funny, cause thats really normal for me, but she said she had never done anything like that, nor anyone she knew. So I was pretty surprised. Most my friends and I can, and (when safe) do so as well.

How bout you, do you , dont you, etc...I think you get the point....

I think one of the main reasons was that she felt there were to many people around, and wouldnt want to drift into someone?

It's not that bad. Heck, if you slam on the brakes, most the black you see on the road is the road itself, not rubber.

Fish-tailing, burning out are pretty much what I'm limited to.

I'm not sure what ebraking is, but I am all over donuts and powerslides - in the snow.

Come snowtime, it's funtime.  Frontwheel drive gives you excellent backwards donuts, rearwheel drive lets you Hazzard around every turn.  Handbrakes are teh kewl, especially on frontwheel drive cars.

Fun, fun, fun.  And the occasional call for help to get out of a ditch.

:D

And yes... lots of fun. It's been a while since I've done any of that.

I treate my vehicles so poorly in the winter.

In the summer with my Small Dodge Dakota, I'll drop clutch and burn quite often, as well as fish tailing. No E-Brake on the thing though... in the winter I fish tail and donut all the time, as well as in sand.

My old 1980 woody caravan used to have front wheel drive, in the winter i'd reverse 180 that beast out of parking lots and such. Every one found it quite ammusing to see the old rust bucket "perform".

When I was 16, I blew out the drivers side front tire of it whilst doing a reverse donut, in the mall parking lot, at midnight, With eight kids in it. All of which I coached our "Story" to right before I called my dad for the triple A card.

good times.

does snow and parking lots in a truck count?  if not, then all i really do is slide a bit around corners and spin the tires in my focus.

I've been looking into it, and sounds like the only main hazard is stretching your ebrake cable..which is easy to adjust, etc. If you constantly do it on hot, dry pavement, you might do some damage to the tires, but its easy to avoid.

My e-brake doesn't work well enough for that, and I have rear wheel drive. The other stuff I do in a controlled setting, like snowy parking lots. Worst thing I've ever done to my vehicle was a Dukes of Hazzard type jump. I had never actually got air off of this jump before and had assumed my car was incapable of reaching the necessary velocity in the space allowed, so I really had the hammer down and redlined it when the rear wheels lost contact. Apparently when you're going downhill on this jump you get 4-5 feet of air and sail for a good 50 feet. The Bilseins and springs survived.

A buddy of mine is a total idiot however. I've witnessed him crash at least three times when he's run out of tallent.

Lots of fun stuff to do in the country folks. I have a service road about .5 mile from my house next to railraod tracks that houses some fun. First you slide the corner going in, then hammer it down for the "jump". A hill that has a sudden drop kinda thing. You then race down the gravel avoiding the giant potholes weaving around. Then there is a random half circle going around a stupidly placed pole. If you do it right, you can "drift" through the entire turn and whip the rear end around the other way then straighten out before you hit the pavement.

gravel road + awd tempo = me having the best time of my life.

i used to drift in my s-10 when i first bought it, but since then, cops have been more common.  however, i did get it up to 80mph in a 40mph zone.  the road is very hilly and narrow.  i'm an idiot.

i started driving 2 months ago, i dont have my own car i drive my moms chrysler concorde(like an intrepid but nicer) in one month of driving it i wore out the front ball joints from doing stupid stuff like this. my fav thing to do is gun it, and turn the steering wheel really quick about 3 or 4 degrees and letting the back start to swing around and then correct my stering to go straight and sometimes i can drive like sideways for quite a while.

My '85 Grand Marquis LS is perfect for drifting...

If i put some money into it, im sure it would have a decent quarter time, but im not putting anything into it. The car itself cost me $800, and it has 83k original miles on it.

Plus the stock speedo only goes to:

EIGHTY FIVE MILES PER HOUR!!!!

Another fun thing to do that will scare the bijebus out of anyone near is while your driving put the car in neutral, turn the key to off, pump the gas a few time then start the car back up. Then BOOM you get one heck of a back fire. Dont pump the gas too much. Dont want to blow off the exhaust system.

But anyaways, yeah Choop we used to do stuff like that. Mainly in the winter with my friend moms Omni.

You should buy that Omni off your moms friend put a couple grand in it and those things fly. Anyways I have FWD so its a little tough do drift but my 97 jetta works alright for me. I want a RWD car so then I would drift every corner

Aww...this thread takes me back to Freshmen year when I had Driver's Ed.

For our Final, our instrustor put us in a skid and we had to get out of it.
Well, that day we weren't supposed to have school because the gravel
roads were coverd in ice, but we had it anyways. So my instructor put me
into a skid on solid ice on a gravel road. I couldn't get out of it. It was
TOO slippery. So he yelled "Let go of the wheel!" I let go and he reached
over and when he did that he over turned it. SO then we were doing 360s
and then we smack it against a rock/ditch. The car was facing the
opposite direction and stuck. When we were there at a complete stop, my
adrinaline running, and I asked in a soft/worried voice, "Did I pass?" LOL.
Then my instrutor replies, "Yes. I'm giving you 5 extra credit points for
handling the situation so well." I was shocked.

Crazy.

to do a burnout, just floor it from a standstill.  if that doesnt work, hit the breaks, and the gas at the same time, you will stay in place and spin your back wheels.  to do a donut, just turn the wheel and floor it.  cherokees burn pretty well.

If all else fails, pour some bleach on the tires. Makes em spin well and gives a good white cloud to it.
