A tac cap would help with the "pistol" look.

A 12 gram quick changer would be sweet. And as previously mentioned, a cap instead of hopper.

Thinking about it...

a 12-gram changer would work out rather nice for that. would make a nice second hand grip if you want it, but its nice and light to reduce weight if you dont feel like using two hands.

also agree with the tac cap idea. or just take and modify a pod lid and put it on the top. its actually fairly easy to do I believe, and you wont need to hold that much ammo beyond what would fit in the housing itself anyways since its a hold-out weapon.

one worry is the fact of how cyclones and low ammo doesnt work so well because when your down to the last couple balls or so, you might fire a blank, then fire a shot, then fire to more blanks before getting to the next ball. its kinda like playing russian rullet with a 6-shooter with only 1 bullet. you have no way of knowing if that paintball fell into the next open slot or if it all the way 6 shots back.

Range is the same with every marker... nub.

As for the 12 gram changer. I was just interested in how many shots you could get out of one on an A-5. I got 8. Not worth it IMO. Go with the 3.5 oz tank.

the 12 gram wont work well with the cyclone feed, maybe one shot per cartrige, remote line would work better

Tolgak and Sniper called it- 12 grams are weak for Tippmanns. Too high an operating pressure, plus all the gas required to cycle the action, and in this case the cyclone.

He was probably referring to range with the short barrel. Take the barrel off
your gun and see how you shoot. Not very far, mirite? Nearly all of the ball's
acceleration takes place as it travels down the barrel.

eh.......ick.

Not a fan of it. I just don't really care for that setup much. Perhaps a 12 gram adaptor and a tac cap would help, but as of now...

eh...

I have an A5 set up similar to that with a tac cap and vertical mount 3.5 oz tank. It's sweet for CQB scenarios. (Although, sometimes I wish I hadn't cut the tac cap down to 30 round size.)

not necessarily

theoretically yes

but a paintball with no barrel won't go the same distance as one with a barrel

that is a short barrel and i figure it would negatively affect range, not to mention accuracy by far

there are a bunch of other things that can screw up your range

Carl is correct (sort of). When I switch from my eight inch big shot to my cut down stock barrel (approx. 4 1/2 inches) I lose 30 feet per second and any accuracy beyond 50 feet.  I could always kick the velocity back up to 280 fps, but I found that the accuracy does not improve when I do this. The barrel is cut down to the point where it is not long enough to fully stabalize the the paintball before it exits. Neither the lower velocity or the accuracy is a problem for the situations I use this marker in, so I just play at the reduced velocity (and the people I shoot at close range probably appreciate it).  So Tolgak is right that the same velocity generally produces the same range with standard barrels but Carl also has a point where effective range is concerned.
