Subject: On my way to work this morning...

On my way into work this morning I was proceeding down a one lane road, minding my own business. The F-250 in front of me went to turn left, but after slowing down quite a bit he changed his mind. He gunned it and came back into my lane, crushing the front quarter panel on my Grand Prix, blowing in my driver's side window, removing my outside mirror, and coming to rest up against my car. He pulled forward off of my car, scratching the crap out of the full length of my car.

He got out for a moment to yell at me. "What the hell?! I had my signal on!" Yeah, but even if that's so that doesn't mean the space is clear. Then he got back in his truck and tried to leave. Good thing his tire was bent inward and he wasn't going anywhere. I got his plate just the same. Eventually we got a cop out there. They were just going to have us file a report at the station, but he couldn't get there.

No tickets were written because the cop says he couldn't figure out exactly what had happened. The other guy said he was just turning right and I didn't slow down. If that's so then I don't see any way I could have hit his front pasenger tire like I did. I'd have had to jump the large curb to do so. I was careful not to move my car until the cop showed up, but he'd moved his.

In any case, no injuries. I was covered in the miracle known as safety glass and jarred a bit to the side, but much better off than the car.

So who will be officially at fault on insurance claims?

I'm sorry to hear that man, rude drivers and big trucks just suck.

I thought the police had to determine who was at fault...? Someone should have gotten a ticket.

Either way, good thing you weren't injured, I hate that occasional ass with the giant truck who thinks his F-250 gives him ownership of the road.

They do determine it, but they dont give you a ticket. Sucks Ref, look forward to an insurance battle for about a year. Some idiot got in my blind spot in an illegal spot trying to get around me once, and their insurance fought it for more than a year. Finally I sent them pictures of the scene and they immediately coughed up the cash.

Actually, I'd like pics if possible, just to see the extend of what crap you have to put up with, etc.

For sure! And if you get any serious crap from them, just give us the address and your case # (or however they do that) and we'll all write individual e-mails and give them hell.

Our insurance is being great about it so far. And I'm going to take some pictures this evening for the record, and I'll post those. We called in to our insurance company to make sure the guy wasn't going to get any money out of ours.

It's mostly scratches going down the side of the car, but that front panel is jacked up. His bumper actually cut through the metal at one point.

His insurance just called and he's claiming an injury and that the officer told him to go to the hospital. The police report says it's a non-injury accident. He was trying to get more information out of me. Nope. Sorry. I have a police report, the only official record of what happened, to back me up. Hopefully this will be resolved soon, but from what some of you say I'm not so sure.

Sucks he is being a prick about it.

I am also interested in pics. Just to see what it looks like to get hit in a grand prix. What year is yours?

It's a '99, and I slept too late to get daylight pics, so tomorrow morning. I'm not going to be in to work, so that's something.

It's a solid car, but had he hit the driver side door like he hit the front end I'd have been much worse off. And the airbag didn't deploy. I now look at it warily, waiting for it to go off at any moment.

way home from the local shooting range and we had stopped at a red
light. we both had noticed that the guy wasnt paying attention, long story

Disconnect the battery.  Sucks that that happened to your car.

Yes, now we're having the go around with the insurance companies. Mine called me this morning to get a recorded statment of what had happened. I did not have to move at all to come completely beside him, door to door. Nothing from the impact side's headlight or over is touched at all, showing a complete side/side impact.

I now get to file a claim with his insurance and see where that goes.

Ok, pics...

His insurance just called back and told me that "Mr. --- gave us quite a different version of what happened." Well, duh. Why the hell wouldn't he? And he wouldn't let on to that version of events, nor offer to back it up with anything.

And "In light of that we're not going to be able to give consideration to your damages."

Ok, well we'll see what my insurance has to say about that. I'm not going to start the argument with his insurance agent when I have a whole company I pay every month to deal with it. Not that I care so much. I'm not hurt, and my father-in-law does body work. The car is, basically, functional, if not in great shape, and we happen to have another car that we were trying to sell, but which will now be mine while repairs are being made. All things considered it could have gone a bit better, but it also could have gone a lot worse.

I had a guy do that to me once, but my cat-like reflexes sent me into a big ditch. I went down that a little ways, spraying mud in the face of my girlfriend's friend who was sitting in the back with her window down...it was quite funny really. He didn't stop and I just got back up on the road and went on about my way. No harm no foul I guess.....

Not if you can prove it was his fault. My mom did a while back and won in court. New Jersey drivers are the worst.

Jeez. That just goes to show that my father is right, driving is no fun anymore, noone knows how to do it.

We had some guy behind us one day blowing his horn for us to move, we were in a left turn lane, and behind someone else. This jackhole swings out into the right turn lane (at a T intersection) gets by us, then jams back into our lane to make a left turn, running us into the median. We followed him for over a mile blaring our horn just to piss him off.

I've got terrible road rage when it comes to morons.

You have nothing on mine.. I got out of my car once. I scared the piss out of the woman who had just tried to cut me off, run me off the road, flashed her lights at me after I made my turn and honked.

People are not considerate when they drive. Every situation is about THEM. The woman clearly had an opporunity to pull in behind me, there were no other cars in my lane, and I was already going ten over.

^The trick is when you get out of your car is to slam the door really hard, act like your about to shoot someone, and screem at the top of your lungs.  Works every time.

And that sucks about your car. the hubcap is really messed up.

my bro had a horrible time with an insurance company after some guy ran a red and my bro t boned him.  there were construction workers there saying the other guy ran the red, but they werent going to pay because they said my bro "was a teenager so he was probably speeding, and had no reason to be driving on the road."

fun thing to do around here since everyone runs red is as soon as your light turns green, if there is still a car in the intersection, get on the horn and floor it.  the look on their face when they see a silverado barreling towards them is priceless.

My dad always catches some moron. First we were hauling a friends boat and some idiot cut us off at a red light and we couldn't stop in time and we rear ended him. The idiot tried saying he ahd whiplash and that. Second he was going down a major road and some lady going the other way turned without looking and he t-boned her.

No. Florida drivers get that award. They come up to CT/NY and drive like 25 on the high way. And here 25 over the speed limit is average highway speed lol.
