Depends what you want it for...

For speedball I'd say Ion.

For woods I'd say anything Tippmann.

I think the Ion can be a great gun for both.

Pumpker'd; (V.) When a pump player runs up and shoots you at point blank range because you thought 20bps made you good.

The Ion is a great marker, but unless you are planning on using it to it's full potential as both a woodsball and a speedball marker, well, why shell out the bucks for it AND HPA just to get started? I'm a fan of both the A-5 and the Ion, it just depends on what you're looking for. If you want to get into speedball and play woodsball as well, definitely go ION, if you're looking to go more woods and mil-sim but occasionally play some speedball, then the E-Gripped A-5 is the choice.

The one thing I think the A-5 DOES have over the ION is that you can build up to everything you want on your a-5 without having to plunk down a bucket of cash all at once. you CAN run it on CO2 (though HPA is definitely better for it) if you don't want to shell out the money for HPA right when you purchase the marker.
