I have a question. Say I misplaced my oil for oiling up my tippmann a5, is it possible to use WD-40 to oil up your gun or will it mess up the performance? |

| I wouldn't advise it but... I have recently learned it will do NO harm at all to the O-rings. If you want to get the stuff that came with the gun, then get a bottle of Hoppes #9. That is all my 98 or A5 will ever see. It's available at wal-mart and it is fairly cheap. Also not to sound like a jerk but, you should do a search on things before you post. Anyway welcome to the forums! |

| WD-40 is not meant to do what you're asking it to do. Even with Bruce and other's experiments, I wouldn't put it through my Tippmann. |

I wont use it in my Tippmann or any marker either , BUT !! The components of WD-40 will cause no damage to your marker if you choose to use it . Hoppe's #9 Lubricating oil is whats packaged with the marker as it ships from Tippmann , so thats my choice to recommend . ------------- SL68-II , micro honed and polished .688" bore . Tuff Enuf . Over time WD-40 loses its lighter components and gets thicker...much thicker than the standard lubricants used on markers. But it caused no problems with the marker. WD-40 makes an excellent cleaning spray especially after playing in the rain, mud or sandy field. The pressure of the spray along with the solvent action of the lubricant will blast out water and other contaminants. Doing no damage to any of the components of the marker. In my book WD-40 is under-rated as a lubricant. As its name indicates, it displaces water. When sprayed on parts that have been previously lubricated with other oils, the solvent action of WD-40 causes the dirt and grime to run out of those parts. There are many spray cleaners out there that do an excellent job of removing contamination from lubricated parts, but leave them dry and un-lubricated. WD-40 does both the job of cleaning and re-lubricating. I see no reason that a continuous diet of WD-40 to both clean and lubricate your Tippmann marker wouldn't keep it in tip top shape and also keep it operating longer than other lubes applied without periodic through cleaning. WD-40 does both jobs at the same time. -------------
