I dont have an ion, but ive seriously been considering buying one. alot of reviews point out that almost no hoppers fit on the ions feed neck though. so im wondering which hopper/gun upgrade for a hopper would be good to buy with the ion. I really dont need anything GREAT, maybe just something that could shoot around 10bps and hopefully not make the gun shop to much paint.

And by the way, this is all coming from a guy who uses a tippmann a-5, so i dont know anything about electric hoppers, only cyclones...

I would get a HaloB.

That way when you decide to upgrade markers you will still have a hopper that can keep up.

Also a clamping feedneck is a good choice, the stock Ion feedneck is crap.

Get something like the CCM no pro rise feedneck. It fits a halo perfectly. It is a small price to pay for getting something better for your gun that doesn't starve your gun also.

The Halo B should work fine, though if you're considering going with a nion for awhile, I would suggest a new feedneck. Cam-locks, Qlocks, and CCMs are all nice ones.

Pumpker'd; (V.) When a pump player runs up and shoots you at point blank range because you thought 20bps made you good.

Ya just spend the little bit of money for a feedneck so that you can get any
hopper that you want.

I use an egg2 on my Ion. For that price and from someone you know, I'd go for it.

I would still buy one just so you know you wont have problems with your hopper flying off in middle of a game or anything.  I wouldnt be able to tell you if it actually fits or not though.

A clamping/locking feed-neck is a god send my friend, and well worth the money you put toward it. Having the hopper fly off your marker during the middle of a game is no fun, nor is cleaning all the paint out of it because the rounds shattered inside when it hit the ground. I used to rock a standard rise vert-feed 'cocker w/o a locking feedneck. Electrical tape was a must-have to wedge the hopper in place, and even then, it wasn't perfect. I've now got a locking feedneck on my main marker and good lord, I have no clue how I ever lived without it.

As for the hopper. If you're serious about going to an Ion and plan on upping it with a new board, I'd definitely go with a Halo B.

An Egg 2 or 3 would be decent.  They feel a little fragile and I've had to replace the battery door and the hopper top because I lent it out to one of the kids we play with.  He wasn't very careful how he threw his gun around.  <sigh>

But a Q-lock for the Ion is a must.  Works wonderfully on my Ion and Egg2.
