Tippmann wants to learn more about paintball grenades.

The results of this poll will be reported to Tippmann.

That's right - TIPPMANN WILL ACTUALLY SEE THESE RESULTS.  This is your chance to make a difference.

So please take a moment to describe why you prefer one grenade over another.  What makes a grenade good or bad?

Is it functionality, spray radius, smell, toughness - what?  Please let us know how to make the best grenade possible.

I prefer the atomic ordance for their reliability to "blow" and also the radius that they have.

I dont really care about the smell of the grenade but do care about reliability and toughness. The nade has to be reliable and also tough enough to withstand scenario and big game action.

I like atomic ordinance as well. I've used a Squadbuster and Big Boy before and the Big Boy covered more ground than the Squadbuster. I think the important things are what Simma mentioned, toughness and spray radius.

something that works 100% of the time.

also something a bit cheaper would be much better

(if both can't be done, I would personally prefer reliability)

My biggest issues with the squadbusters is their small paint dispersion radius, and the fact that they are sometimes diffiucult to create a burst.  You really have to chuck them at something for them to go off.

Ya, I have had a bad expierience with the squad busters. I left my gun with my team so I could run a little faster get close squeaze pull pin chuck at tree in the middle of the other team and nothing well since it didn't work I got lit up but the only thing I was thinking was what a waste of money.

I Always had a better experience with the explosive paint grenades back in the late 80's/early 90's. Nothing has really come close to providing a great radius of paint since then.

The issue that I have with most of today's paint grenades is that they spray the paint around like a fire-hose without a handler rather than having an outward spreading 'dome' of paint that is guaranteed to get everyone who isn't under full cover. If tippmann, or anyone else for that matter, could come up with an alternative to the explosive grenades of the past that gave the same results, I'd probably start using grenades in scenarios again.

Good info so far - keep it coming.

Haven't you always wanted to tell Tippmann what you REALLY think?

I would, but nobody reads stickies.  Bumping will get more short-term attention (I hope).

Yeah, but most of what we want to tell them is not about grenades.  We've moved on.

When it really comes to grenades most of them are used in big games and scenarios. With that said, more and more milsim paintball equipment is being made and I think a grenade that resembled a grenade would be a good idea.

Also another idea I would suggest would be to make a smaller version of the final greande. If you could fit 2 or 3 of them in a pod and sell them as a package I think they would sell like hot cakes. People would worry less about the nade going off in a pocket or during a slide and if it did the pod would contain the paint.

Just another idea.

A greanade that isn't a "squad bouncer"

So as Carl said it needs to work more thant the Squad busters do.

i would MUCH rather see a cold burning pull pin smoke gernade than a paint gernade.

i have used paint gernades only a few times and have seen them a few more. i find that in the time that it takes to pull out a nade and toss it you can genraly shoot the person or people. that and when a nade goes off it is rarly felt so people just play on...

my opinion a "safe"(wont start fires or be toxic) smoke gernade

Im supraised Tippmann will be reading this, It seems to me that they really do not pay attention to this.

Anyway, Ive tried both the Squadbusters and I have some Big Boys. I have yet to try the Big Boy, however I love the idea. In my opinion, Tippmann should either pull a Smartparts and rip off Atomic Ordnance, or create a grenade that accually "explodes" (Without explosives, unlike older grenades). Every grenade on the market today works by an elastic hose forcing paint out of one hole. One great idea for a grenade would a grenade that one would charge with CO2 (Similar to RAP4s grenade launchers) that would blast paint everywhere, the only problems would be impailing fellow players, and the grenade being damaged. Or a pre-charged non reusable plastic grenade that would work just like a real grenade (Pull the pin, wait a couple of seconds and throw)Other than that a chemical reaction between vinegar/baking soda would be interesting too.

Its sad to see the Squadbuster leaving, its been around since the early days of Tippmann, but I really dont mind, it dosent work.

I know this will get nowhere, but I would be more that willing to test anything or anything like that.(Just a thought....) :D

Edit: Rambino, yes I have.

Of the 3 Tippmann greanades that I've purchased, none of them worked.

SSOK and I are thinking along the same lines I see. Heh, get tippmann to put a sodium, ceasium or rubidium primer in the grenade. That'd REALLY go boom!

The squad busters don't work I've tried 5 differnt squad busters and only one went off.  I think you should try to some how get more pressure in the grenades (more pressure bigger spray).

I'll second the cold smoke thing, a good smoke grenade is great, even the best current paint grenades out there tend to suck do to the lack of burst radius.

Tippmann has done some wild, controversial stuff. Fully automatic paintball guns, guns that burn propane have all raised eyebrows. I wouldn't mind seeing them actually that actually had a timed fuze and would burst. I think you could probably rig something that wouldn't be so powerful it'd cause finger injuries to retards who dont get it off on time. As far as eye injuries, you're wearing a mask. Maybe something that can be charged with green gas?

they wouldn't make something that could burst

plus it would pretty much only be able to be sold in the us

Tell 'em to make whatever type thay want but sell them for 2.95 or less. I've never bought a grenade simply because of the high price.
