Subject: Online Document Storage

So in my spare time I have various book projects underway.  I like to work on these both from home and at the office.  This is a pain, since I currently keep the files in the office document management system, and accessing that from home is cumbersome.

So I am thinking there has to be an easier way - presumably some type of online document management that I can access from anywhere.

I did a bit of searching, and there are a bunch of services that offer this type of deal.  Some are free, some not so free.

Does anybody have experience with online doc storage for anywhere-access?  Recommendations, helpful information?  I don't know much about this yet.

Thanks.

Flash Drive?

just buy a 1gig Flash Drive, and that should help...  just as long as your computers run the same programs, and have a USB port.

Flash drive may not be a bad idea.  I tried that before, when flash drives were new and cool.  It didn't work so well then, because interfacing wasn't always smooth, but that shouldn't be a problem now.

Hmm.  I would worry about losing/destroying my flash drive, though.  That would suck.  But definitely worth considering.

Just put it on your Ferrari keys... usually they all have key rings on them... and if your break it on your Car keys... you need to find better hobbies or be lots more careful.

A company I used to work for used http://www.mydocsonline.com/ - http://www.mydocsonline.com/  and the service worked ok.  We used it mostly for Customer documentation that could be gotten on site.  I'm not familiar with the "free" services, but when dealing with IP I'd feel a little naked if my writing was kept with a free service...

With a USB drive you could easily write a couple of batch files or something that would "sync" the version on the jump drive with both your home and work computers, that way you have in effect 3 copies of your work at all times... Of course if you worked on it 15 hours over a weekend and then lost it before you sync'd it with one of the PC's, then you'd be out the work, but at least have a fairly recent copy on one or both of your PC's....

I think a flash drive is the way to go. I have one for school, but I've used it a lot at home as well.

Pumpker'd; (V.) When a pump player runs up and shoots you at point blank range because you thought 20bps made you good.

Thanks, guys.  I'm going to try storing on my cell phone for now and syncing as needed, and if that doesn't work I'll try google docs.

:)

I would go with flash drive. It's the most logical and you don't lose them, unless you're irresponsible with it. But the price tag gives the incentive to keep it in your sight at all times.
