So here is my 98 Custom that I bought a week and a half ago. 75 bucks for it, a 3+2 harness, mask, 19 pods, 2 20 oz co2s, remote hose, case, several new squeegees, and 2 cases of paintballs. Gun was in horrible condition body wise, the paint was chipping in places the size of quarters, and every nook and cranny had old paintball and mud crammed in it. So I went step by step from what I saw on these forums and repainted it, polished the internals, pen spring mod, wobbly feedneck mod, and scrubbed everything else with a tootbrush and soapy water. I also bought a 16" SP 06 Progressive barrel and stock for it. Also slapped a 12v Revy on it. Well heres what it looks like now...its a strictly woodsball gun, and thats not the paint, its a fingerprint! Oh, anyone have a dovetail sight piece laying around that they dont use and might mail to a person in need of one?

Nice gun, but for future reference no buying, selling, or trading on the forums because the mods will jump on you if you try.

No I wish I had taken a before pic, but believe me it was really bad. Worse than some of the bad rentals ive seen. Bleh. Ive got a pic of it primered...

My steps..
1. Removed most of the remaining paint with dremel and sandpaper, and polished internals/ various pieces. Cleaned all debris and dust off.
2. Sprayed 1 coat duplicolor self etching primer..waited 30 minutes...sprayed 2nd coat and let sit over night
3. Lightly sanded primer to give paint something to bite to. Cleaned.
4. Sprayed 1 coat duplicolor Jade Green paint...waited 1 hour..sprayed second coat. Let sit over night near space heater.
5. Sprayed 1 coat duplicolor engine enamel clear coat....waited 10 minutes...sprayed 2nd coat..waited 10 more minutes....sprayed last coat. Let sit over night near space heater.
6. Put back together and enjoy.

I dunno really, maybe an expansion chamber kit, but I have the remote hose so thats pointless right? And I like the single finger trigger on it. Ill probably just keep it the way it is for a while, really dont need a high ROF gun cuz I already have the Imp with equalizer. Any suggestions?

yea I took my time on it...thats why I made sure to mention that those blotches were fingerprints and not in the paint. It looks awesome in person. The clear coat is a must for anyone looking to paint theirs...it makes it look 100% better.

Do you think that Engine block enamel is the best thing for the clear coat? Is it supposed to be more durable?
just wondering..painting 1 now, and haven't bought the clear coat paint yet, but about to. Not sure what options there are.

woodzballa:
supposedly the engine enamel paint is supposed to be better. I went with it cuz it is made to hold up under the hood. I figure i can never treat it as bad as it would get under the hood of a car with all the heat, vibration, moisture, dirt, and oils. So thats why i went with it. Let me know how yours turns out.
