Ok I know a fully-electric paintball gun was done once, and I know it failed hard.

But why not take some Ideas from airsoft and make a electric paintball gun that has a motor inside that pushes the bolt forward and back?

I know it would need a big battery but the extra weight from the battery would be more than made up for by the loss of tank.

Anyone think it's somehow possible?

You're kinda forgetting that air shoots the ball, not the bolt.

Actually, air does shoot the ball. The gears wind the bolt back, and when it launches forward, the air pressure it develops shoots the ball. Like a Red Ryder BB gun. Except auto.

I doubt it could generate enough pressure to shoot a paintball.

And if it could, that motor would have to be a beast.

national paintball supply already tried this, they called it the evolt, it must have failed hard as well because i dont think its in production anymore.

If solenoids where more efficient and Batteries held more of a charge for their size. Then this idea would work. However the evolt could get the same amount of shots from one rechargable battery as a Tippmann could get with a 9 oz tank.

Maybe in a few years we will see a slide towards that kind of technology.

That's not so bad, if the price was right.

if they had a built in lithium battery or something like that(like a cell phone battery but bigger) it might work.

I think the battery was about the size of a powerwheels battery. And the clicked into place in the stock.

dude if u wanted a machine gun then u use the gas u use to shoot the ball out ot cock the bolt and reliese to shoot again.  this is much more efficient then electricity and all paintball guns have some form of this, it just isnt full auto

...........that's  pretty much NOT what this is about.  Yes,  we know that all paintball guns (except the C4  gun....Tippmanns propane thing)
use a blowback system.   This guy was talking about using something OTHER than blow back.  Duh.     Read the posts

I believe they call it the c3, but either way a battery powered paintball gun would be awesome for people who don't have a close fill station.
