I'm waiting for the commando stock to come out.  This marker's gonna rock when I'm done.  I have a few more mods up my sleeve.

Looks good so far. The commando stock will definately look nice on there. What else do you have in store?

If you made a cheesy shroud to make the Apex look like a silencer that would be nice..

I have a feeling you're new...

Here's my review of the apex barrel.  It rocks!  I never thought I would use a barrel other than the flatline because I love the straight trajectory so much.  A friend of mine mentioned the apex barrel a few weeks ago, so I decised to check it out myself.  I began this search with sceptacism and doubts about the APEX.  I thought there's no way any knock-off barell could come close to the flatline.  I was wrong.  The APEX on my Tippmann X7 rocks!  All the non believers have every right to dislike the APEX, because they were using it wrong.  The APEX claims to allow the player to shoot around bunkers; forget it!  This thing isn't good for that...the whole idea of shooting around or over a bunker is just lame and impractical.  However, if you're looking for accuracy, distance, and a barrel that will shoot paintballs in a straight and flat trajectory, then the APEX is the answer. Having been a loyal fan and owner of the flatline for the last 6 years, you may consider this source reliable.

Here are some managable drawbacks to the APEX.

  • It breaks paint when you set the variable hop up switch too high...but there's just no need to do that anyway.
  • It does require semi-durable paint just like the flatline

Here are the benefits the APEX provides

  • extreme accuracy
  • same distance and trajectory as the flatline
  • easier to clean than the flatline

Overall conclusion:  The APEX barrel is better than the flatline...I know, I didn't think that was possible either.

I'd love to tell you about the custome mods to come, but I want my actions to speak louder than words.  To be continued...

ok Would you like to be shot in the face when your clearly behind a bunker? Ok thats what I thought.

Laxter,

It's clear that you did not read my review of the APEX barrel, nor have you played with or against this piece of equipment.  This barrel does not perform as advertised with regards to shooting around or over bunkers; trust me, it won't take you out if you're behind a bunker.  With all due respect, we can only assume that you weren't shot in the face by a curveball, but rather by the player in clear view that you just neglected to notice.  Additionally, I'd like to see how cheap you think this fine peice of equipment is after you've shot my gun.  In all honesty, I wouldn't be suprised if you enjoyed it.

to actually use the side curve or down curve is impractical on an Apexed barrel. its really used to the effect of a flatline by most. the thing is that an Apex is much easier to deal with than a flatline. they are easier to clean out and at not as picky on paint. also if you get an addapter you can put an apex on any regular straight barrel, so you can get a better quality barrel then apex tip it.

How did you get buttstock to fit?

Posted By: Strandimal
Date Posted: 11 March 2007 at 4:49pm

To get the buttstock to fit, I replaced the center pin from the end cap with the pin that originally srewed into the stock from the airsoft rifle.  I had to saw off part of the new pin, then locked in place by forcing a wide washer over the end of both sides of the end cap.  Then I screwed the buttsock in the same way it screwed into that pin when it was in the airsoft rifle.  I followed that up with jb weld.  This stock has a solid feel and fit to it, but since the stock is hollow, it's loud as hell when I fire this thing next to my face.  The plus side of the hollow stock is its a great place to store my squegee.  I'll probably replace it with a commando stock when it becomes available.

Also, I just installed an RT trigger.  I do not recommend the RT for anyone attempting this mod.  The 9oz tank just doesnt have enough beef to it to run the bolt, cyclone, and RT effectively.  The RT is useless after the first couple of bursts.  However, it works just fine when I plug in my 20oz tank.  I cant wait for the egrip to become available.

More about the front sight;  this weekend I realized that installing a front sight would interfere with taking the barrel off to clean it (in the middle of a firefight).  I could mount the front sight to the foregrip, and that would work just fine, but...it would take longer to unscrew the barrel to clean it.

Good luck to anyone trying to mod their X7 with a custom stock, foregrip, etc.  Please share your results if you do.

Tonton,

The grenade launcher doesn't shoot or launch anything.  What looks like the grenade launcher's barrel is really just a 9oz tank.  The air runs from the tank, through a female palmer stabelizer found at http://www.specialopspaintball.com - www.specialopspaintball.com which is mounted by elevated scope rings.  The palmer stabelizer is connected to the stock hose which runs through the top of the magwell, the  magazine itself, then into the gun.

Heavy is not in my vocabulary.  But the weight is quite reasonable.  It just feels right.

The "air through thing" you're referring to doesn't exist on this marker.  No air runs through my stock, it comes directly from the 9oz tank in the mock launcher.
