I am immensely cautious of arrangements like that. It too often turns out that while we had decided to forego a holiday or event, that she'd gotten me something anyway, and I feel bad. I try to have a gift on back-up. That way, if she has something for me I am prepared. -------------

lol... I have tried all of the standard, and some not-so-standard, gifts, and have determined that a nice flower arrangement is the safest route to success. Keys to flower success: 1. If possible, have flowers delivered someplace public, like her office/school/parents house. 2/3 of the purpose of the flowers is to show off to random bystanders. 2. Given point 1 above, if your lady will be surrounded by other flower-recipients, spend the extra couple of bucks and get a nice arrangement. ^with women, anything big is good... and I mean anything. House, Car. The only thing I can think that a women doesn't like big is her Calorie intake. But yea, I bought my G/F a Rebel K2 35mm Camera... it's pretty nice, and I may actually steal it from her from time to time...  -------------

I have also found that you get some serious bonus points if you grow the flowers yourself. Even if they are not as plentiful or robust as the store purchased ones, the thought that you took the time to plant and fertilize and water and care for them give you a leg up. The right for a female to pull the "Oh..He just store bought yours?" Good stuff. -------------

I'm taking my lady out to a resturant that has a chef trained in France , for some smoked salmon , handmade chocolates , and some wine who's name I cant pronounce but is a reisling . Do you think Panini is safe to eat ? Ya think twenty bucks will be enough ? Hell , I'd be happy to go to Burger King and have a chocolate malt .

I picked up some flowers on the way home today, the lady will be here in 45 minutes after her class gets out. Nothing mind blowing, but nice enough, especially considering she's not expecting anything.

In all seriousness, I'm super glad I don't have a girlfriend, as I have about $3 left to spend on Valentines day after taking into account my Dad's birthday on Friday. I'm sure I'd have less if I had to spend money on her the rest of the time too. |
