I've gone paintballing a few times but will now be playing a lot more now since joining a local team. I was told that most of the team uses the Tippmann A5 and that it was probably the best bang for the buck. But upon looking on line I found that Tippmann now has the X-7. Now like I said I'm kinda new to the game and don't really know which would be the better starter marker for now. I'm looking to spend around $500 so I'm not quite sure which to get. Any info would be great guys. Oh yeah should have mentioned we play "bush ball" apparently so not too sure if that makes a difference.

Any Tippmann would be a good marker.

if your going into the woods, an A5 or 98c is your best bet i personally wouldnt buy the X7 for a while, because of the flaws in its design as pointed out by Mack. If your looking to spend less than $500, remember you also have to buy an air/co2 tank, mask, and maybe a barrel. paintballgoth has a good point, your style of play makes a huge difference on what marker would be good. since your playing woodsball i would think the first thing you should do is buy a stock A5 or 98 Custom ACT and play a few games, see what you like and what you dont like, and upgrade what you think will help fix those problems. One of the first things you will likely need is a barrel through, the 98 custom pro is the only tippmann ive heard of that has a good stock barrel. After that you will want to upgrade depending on your style of play... if you like to shot alot you probably want an RT or Egrip... or you might want to tuck your gun up closer to you with a drop forward... and the list goes on... theres an ungodly amount of upgrades available for a tippmann A5 or 98 custom and you can tailor it to perfectly fit your style... An A-5 would be better for support, I'm not really familiar with the new X-7 though. ------------- Tippmanns are cool like Dye's are expensive, and JT Protiums are great markers too! |

If it has to be a tippmann the I would go for the A5. But if not then I would look into the SP8 £200 Egg - 30 Air bottle - £80 £310GBP so whats that in USD.

Id go with a Tippmann Cp act with egrip, which will run you like $230ish + and at least a Apachie, $60 + 20 co2 tank for starters, you can get HPA later, and Egrip Tippmanns work fine on co2. That totals about $310 and you can get a barrel like a bigshot or something for $50 and your set. Use the rest of your money on a field membership and paint and air.

sry if this is in the wrong place, but do egriped 98s work well with co2? i was under the impression that they need to be switched to hpa before egrip -------------

I reaffirm my statement that the Lasoya Promaster is the best deal, being better than every marker you guys stated, and is alot of cases cheaper. "Bush Ball": you mean you guys play in the woods and what not. I believe that either guns considered to be "Woodsball" and "speedball" both function well in the woods, and that people believe otherwise due to some ignorant mindset. Given that, it only makes sense to get the best marker, which would generally be one considered best for "speedball". You can't expect to get unbiased advice on a forum that is found on a paintball gun manufacturer's website. I suggest you ask on sites like pbnation, that are less likely to be so one sided in their views.
